I wish I could say I knew what you mean - but I installed Summit on my phone when I joined Lemmy, installed Summit when my phone came back from repair, and installed Summit when I bought my new phone last month.

I am a simple man, and I fuckin' love Summit yeaaahhh boiiii

edit: link for Android

Replying with Summit to agree with you that it's the best. Reminds me of baconreader in the olden days.

Trying that one out now!

It's nice to remember why love Lemmy (the tech community that makes apps, the people willing to stand up for their morals).

Can't speak for what the dev is all about, but they're sound as fuck whenever I've interacted with them, and there's a lot of work being done with frequent releases.

Very open to community requests too so if there's an feature missing and it's requested, there's a good chance it'll turn up sooner rather than later.

I gotta say as someone who has never used an iPhone, Voyager is absolutely amazing. Before lemmy I was using Infinity for Reddit and it feels relatively similar to me

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Voyager seems great but I really couldn't get used to the iOS UI which is why I ultimately switched to Thunder and I'm loving it so far!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I wished more apps would stick to the base iPhone UI look, it isn’t very splashy, but it feels so good to use.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

I kind of hate to agree with you. I'm huge anti-apple but for mobile UI they just have it hammered down. Leave the Settings alone though... I tried to use the iOS Settings app one and was completely lost

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

To each their own, I guess. I've got an iPhone for work and I really don't like using it which is also why I couldn't get used to Voyager.

Edit: Wrong comment... Lol, I am also on a new app. Sorry.

Voyager is solid!

I find it hard to use anything other than thunder now

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Thunder is good because it has also the material you theme on Android which Voyager doesn't. I wish Voyager had it because the interface is just great

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

It looks like you can get arctic looking pretty similar and its ios native, so prob better performance, im just lazy to switch

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Fucking casuals I use the mobile website like a man

Just switched from Sync to Boost after it started having issues displaying vote counts, and now all my muscle memory is gone

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Boost also has a similar issue to Sync where the developer has been inactive for a while.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Which is a shame, because I really haven't found anything similar enough to Boost that's actively being worked on. The UI for Voyager and Connect just don't really allow me to use/customize them how I want to.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Speaking of clients, anyone know of an Android one that has the "add note to user" function other than Boost?

I really miss that function whenever I accidentally engage with certain Dunning Kruger Effect poster boys I've wasted time and energy on previously..

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Voyager and Thunder have that feature.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

~~I have both of those installed and nope, neither seem to. Unless it's hidden somewhere I haven't looked..~~

I sit corrected!

Voyager: You can tap on a profile and hit the 3 dot icon on the top right to "edit tag", there's also a pink section that says “user tags” in the settings.

Thunder: long press the user name to have a small context menu pop up then tap on "user" and then hit the last option "add user label".

there's also a pink section that say user tags in the settings.

THAT'S what I missed! Thanks! 🫶

Gonna tag you as "Hero" 😁

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I've been using connect for about a year now, and it looks like that feature is available.

[–] shadowedcross 4 points 1 month ago

Used Voyager for ages but recently switched to Thunder, love the customisation on it.

[–] cheezoid2 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’m still stubbornly on Memmy, though it seems to have been abandoned and is sort of broken. I’ll have to switch to Voyager eventually.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Check out Arctic! The developer is extremely active. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/arctic-for-lemmy/id6457925837

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

That's how I fell trying to use Voyager. I'm note saying the UI when bad, it wasn't. I was just lost...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Anyone else on Jerboa here? :D

[–] Technoguyfication 2 points 1 month ago

I love Mlem. The iOS native design reminds me of Apollo.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I've customized my Eternity app ages ago and i'm too lazy to change.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I'm so used to the default lemmy ui that I can barely use an alternate client.

[–] Lucidlethargy 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Why did you leave voyager? I just left Boost after realizing it was paid (my dns was likely blocking the ads), that I wasn't paying, and that due to this I was being tracked by advertisers... Super salty about this.

Voyager is okay so far, only minor issues. But yeah, I feel you either way haha.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I haven't left Voyager, its my second choice as I think Mlem looks nicer!
