Some of this shit is just true and really show how clueless some people are. China is not all bad.

But in some responses... The social credit had pilot cities. And people were banned for e.g. flying due to social misdeeds, while it seems to be unrelated to the social credit.

https://www.reuters.com/article/world/china-to-bar-people-with-bad-social-credit-from-planes-trains-idUSKCN1GS10Q/#%3A%7E%3Atext=However%2C+there+are+signs+that%2Ctaking+flights+for+social+misdeeds.

The reality that especially Americans will be de-brainwashed by, is that china is not a communistic state. That it isn't all bad. China is much more like america than both pro-china and pro-america people want to accept.

Social misdeeds also remove you from being able to fly in the US, maybe I'm missing something...

In another comment, I have stated that myself.

I am saying that the social credit system was attempted and they had people banned for e.g. flying. Which makes it reasonable to assume that a really bad social credit score would ban you from flying as well. As the social credit system was experimental, and apparently failed, it is impossible to say what it could have been.

When international news talked about the social credit system and it being in pilot cities, they asked themselves what could be and communicate it as such. But people meme'd it and people believed the meme nonsense version.

China propaganda machine goes brrrr

The way people really suddenly think oh yeah China is just a good country like a European democracy where you can live well is flabbergasting. Of course a dictatorship with massive censorship and suppression of minorities has mostly positive comments.

And of course, many people that aren’t part of a harassed minority or politically active against the rulers aren’t saying horrible stuff against them (which wouldn’t be seen anyway).

Ha ha don't anger the tankies!

Yeah this is so simplistic too, "cute asian girl" explaining the few better things in china lol.

All that exists in Europe, with democracy btw, where are the stories about that :-) oh yeah everyone already knows about the expensive healthcare in the US...

Some Americans believe we're screwed in Europe. I had a US boss trying to "save me" from the "socialist hellhole" that is Switzerland by trying to convince me to move to the US. Some believe Islam is going to sweep across Europe and turn us all into jihadists.

Remember that "Grapes of Wrath" completely backfired as a propaganda piece because Russians were amazed that poor Americans could still afford cars

I'm sorry you haven't paid off 900 in 5 years? That's kinda on you at that point.

They are an American. It's not like 900 dollars is some insurmountable of money to pay off in 5 years. 180 bucks a year. 15 bucks a month.

That's literally a Spotify subscription.

You're assuming they have no other debt, as medical debt doesn't influence your credit and you can't be forced to pay it unlike other forms of debt, making it the last form of debt to pay off (and most have some larger crippling debt that comes first). You're assuming they're paid more than minimum wage (~15k a year), so 1/15 of their yearly income, and that already cannot afford housing and food. You're assuming they have a consistent income and aren't seasonal only.

So total brain rot absolutely everywhere?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 hours ago (4 children)

Wait, China's not a dystopian nightmare?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I imagine it could be if you were a minority or a political dissident.

The fact that so many people went through sexual and gender self discovery on Tiktock, but such things are discouraged by the government in China says a lot that makes me uncomfortable.

Not being able to openly criticise the government and its policies also doesn't sit well with me.

It's not my government though, so that's where my criticism ends. If that's what the majority of people want, that's just democracy by another avenue. So long as people are allowed to leave if they choose, then that's fine.

oh, it is… notice no questions about suicide nets being installed on factories… or the tiananmen square massacre….
or people getting disappeared for speaking against the government….
or the Uyghur genocide that’s ongoing….
but hey, i trust a few screenshots of bots talking on an app though

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 hour ago

What happens if keywords, like uyghur, are mentioned?
