Bonus points if you can guess:

  • from which tracker the torrent is and
  • the exact title of the file

I have no idea about what it can be, lol.

I've got my best uploads on niche stuff, like lesser known movies and albums because I've became almost the only seed on them. In a sense, I'm happy to share and see that such content has people interested in it. My opera uploads exceeded my porn uploads so here is that (:

Apparently being on private trackers has significantly skewed my sense of what's normal sharing stats

opensignups on reddit and invitehawk

I don't understand the point of a private tracker tbh

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

You'll know when you need it. Until then, don't sweat it.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Me neither. I've never been a member on one, but I don't have too much trouble finding and downloading what I need.

For a lot of people, it's a community thing. I'm a member on Orpheus and they have a lot of great community stuff like Album of the Month, user made scripts, tutorials, forums, etc. They can also have a lot higher quality content and moderation because they're so "exclusive". And, for music, a private tracker is gonna be 100x better than a public one or Soulseek.

Hoopla seems okay for people who listen to a lot of mainstream stuff. I've never actually heard about it before now or used it so everything I say is just coming straight out my ass, but, it seems their library is very limited. Orpheus has a very extensive library with almost everything on there having a lossless flac version. It's still nothing compared to Soulseek, but as long as you're into bands/artists with more than 5 listeners in their lifetime, you'll be able to find everything. It all just comes down to what you're looking for though.

My private tracker ratios are shit. If it wasn't for the points systems they have for seeding I wouldn't be able to do anything on them. Every so often one will randomly take off but most of the time they get stuck around like .04 even on brand new uploads. Fortunately I can find pretty much everything on public tracker. My ratio on those is far better. For example I have Godzilla Minus One from both a private tracker and public. The public one is at like 45 and the private one is like .6 both were downloaded within a day or two of each other back when everyone was pirating that movie. I would be seeding so much more shit from my private trackers if I didn't have to worry about upload ratio.

In what way? My "real" torrents from private trackers have at most a ratio of 4.0, with most of them just slightly above 1.0 (and a bunch even below 1.0).

Nah, I wasn't being serious, just making with the funny

My top two are two different encodings of Dominion, 1080p: 205:1 and 720p: 53.8:1, for a combined 634.2 GiB of upload data. I have been seeding for almost two years.

Please, take one. Watch it and consider how fortunate you are.

Everyone not vegan should watch

[–] [email protected] -5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I did and it just made me even less considerate of vegans

Who the fuck posts this over and over in #general and gets mad when people ask them to stop?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

People grieve in different ways.

Thank you for your service.

My highest ratio is 57 on Zelda echoes of wisdom ROM. But I have a second torrent for the same game with 15 ratio, because fuck Nintendo.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

why do people torrent recipes? aren't they just free everywhere online

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

this doesn't answer the Why

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

It's just to get an insane ratio on a private tracker. A ratio of 1 billion looks cool but is otherwise pointless. This recipe is the smallest torrent on that site, so downloading it creates the biggest possible ratio. Not downloading anything eould give you a ratio of NaN since [Upload] divided by 0 is NaN.

[–] TriflingToad 10 points 1 month ago

my guess is the switch keys

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

I have a 170mb torrent that have a seed ratio of over 490 and a seed time over 170 days (round down to the 10s)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

My best ratio (80) it's a 8gb soundtrack
