When you spend all your money on exhaust kits and can't afford an alignment.

This is what's called a "diamond" in the vehicle's unibody frame structure. This car has likely been in a frontend accident that was bad enough to shift one rail back far enough that the entire chassis is out of square in a big way. The tires, bearings, suspension linkages and other parts are wearing way faster and it won't have a long life on the road. Shitty insurance policy, body shops, and ignorant (and broke) buyers keep these sleds on the road. I can almost guarantee that the airbags in that heap are blown and weren't replaced. This shiz shouldn't be allowed on the road.

My guess is the owner knows damn well their vehicle isn't safe, but doesn't have much choice than to drive it.

Must be that freedom car-centric societies apparently offer according to drivers.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I couldn't tell if it was some sort of optical illusion or if their shit was fucked up.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is more common on solid rear axle trucks. It’s much easier for that to come out of square with the frame. Much easier to fix too. Unibodies…that thing is just fucked.

There is an alignment term for this but it’s basically the rear wheels are not square with the body. If you turn the front wheels to match the rears then the car goes straight but the body is slanted.

So this person is fully aware this is happening, right? Is their steering wheel really tilted to the side like that even though they going "straight"?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

If this was from a shady shop repair I wouldn’t put it past them taking the steering wheel off and realigning it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

You're right, that should not be on the road.

[–] sugar_in_your_tea 1 points 1 week ago

I'm sure it's not allowed, they just haven't been caught yet.

Really have to start asking when something is a car or not

[–] VicksVaporBBQrub 1 points 1 week ago

Source for the above "car" https://www.autoevolution.com/news/the-world-s-lowest-car-is-a-fiat-panda-that-will-break-your-brain-217485.html

The Guinness Book World Record titleholder currently (as of 2013) is for a car named Mirai, https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2012/9/mirai-the-worlds-lowest-roadworthy-car-video

Yep, both aren't street legal. Both do have a real person inside "driving" it. Also a youtube search has several other projects tempting the status for world's lowest. 😁

Of course it's Philly

While it is sometimes annoying and you are limited in terms of mods on your vehicles, I must admit I’m really happy that we have the TÜV in Germany when I see stuff like this.

I’m sure this car would not survive a week here before being banned from traffic. And I’m sure the driver would also lose his license.

It’s absolutely not street legal in America either, this asshole just hadn’t been caught yet. As other commenters have mentioned, this vehicle was likely involved in a collision not a cool mod lol

They just started shooting "Tenet 2." Proof: Look at the last few frames, the wheels of the car are rotating backwards.

Deja vu! I've been in this place before

[–] captain_aggravated 1 points 1 week ago

Pretty sure I've seen this one, it's giving me a strange sense of deja vu.
