Yeah for real and I've used their products in the past and I wasn't impressed: too expensive and didn't work with most of the apps I used. I don't see any compelling reason to shift to another late to the game competitor of the matured products.
Meh. Dumb tv + external box for me.
I have yet to find a dumb TV that looks great. Perchance have you any leads?

Am looking. My unit is a Panasonic 50" plasma I got in the noughties. Right up my alley - no smart features at all. I'm aware there are business displays that they use for digital signage, but like the TVs, they have terrible sound, so you may need to fork for a sound bar or something. They cost a bit more, but afaik no smart features either, just media select.
Someone besides Google?
I will never connect my TV to the internet. I will not buy one that requires an internet connection either.
