The Daily Caller retracted its article but Johnson hasn't apologized or even removed his social media posts.

The far-right Daily Caller has retracted an article that caused a right-wing meltdown by falsely claiming the Biden administration banned religious Easter eggs from a White House art contest.

In reality, a rule prohibiting religious egg designs at the White House event has been in place since 1978, including during Donald Trump’s tenure.

The misleading article became part of the transphobic frenzy over the fact that the Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) happened to fall on Easter this year (it always takes place on March 31st, whereas Easter changes dates annually).

Mike Johnson tricked by man pointing a finger at his chin just below his nose and then flicking upward when he looks down at it

[–] [email protected] 22 points 4 months ago

The man then reportedly made a motion like he was throwing a ball, which resulted in Mike Johnson excitedly running in the direction where the ball was apparently thrown. However, the man kept the ball hidden in his hand the whole time, a fact which did not dampen Mike Johnson's excitement when the man eventually revealed the ball.

Is Mike Johnson even a real guy? Every photo of him looks AI generated.

I never thought I would see an entire political party engage in maximal confirmation bias, but here we are, over and over and over again.

It's what you do when there's no evidence for your fever dream accusations and narrative ideations. It's a hollow strategy for appearing to be right when you're perpetually wrong.

I like when you click on a youtube link and you already know what it's going to be.

Hey if he can believe half the shit he does, then he’d believe anything.

Mike Johnson, The Human Shrug.

Don't let his resting 'welp' face deceive you though. Evil is perpetrated though craven little doofii like him having power, however tenuous that power is.

Lying for Jesus.

Religious Easter Egg? What? Who?

The Bible isn't my literature, but I thought I had the basics, at least...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I've known Christians that were appalled at the idea of the Easter Bunny and Easter eggs.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

That's because both rabbits and eggs are symbols of fertility. They're from before Christians coopted Easter from it's origin as a pagan spring fertility celebration.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yes, the name Easter is even derived from the name of that Pagan fertility goddess, Eostre.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I like the idea of an Easter dragon. Let's make that happen.

Can't I have my cake and eat it too damn it?!

Eggs are religious when I want them to be and heathen drivel when I say it so!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

Title should read "An idiot is tricked"... nothing more.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

Republican politicians were never that good at fact-checking their talkings points. Because if they did, they woudn't have any.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

Yes, that's what it was.

"Tricked"

Why didn't I think of that?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Why should he?

His rabid fans wouldn't care.
