"Vote for not more than one" is terrible fucking writing.

What would you prefer? Voting for 0 is acceptable. You could say at most one, but it's not really better.

“Vote for up to one candidate”

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I actually think this is harder for people who struggle with English.

"Vote for one"

With "none of the listed candidates" as an option at the bottom, clearly separate from the names

Haven't heard of any of those, I can't even tell if those are the real ones. It feels like half of these are meme names, but you never know in recent years. (I'm not american)

They're real but most of them are not serious.

Oh, I've seen this guy last time! But his name was not as memorable as his choice of headwear.

Vermin Supreme is basically the best part of being politically aware in America. After him it's all downhill, although the Rent is Too Damn High guy was a solid bump.

For non-US lemmies. No Biden on the ballot? Why?

This is what that news site looks like without ad blocking on

Holy fuck, ad block is required

With adblock in Firefox I can read the whole article without the stupid "read more" gate and the obscenely bad ads.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

And then I have my ad blocker on mobile and it splashes a banner preventing me from interacting with the site.

What a garbage site.

Edit: Switching to desktop view brings up the "I promise to let the corporation fuck me next time" button.

serious question, what even is the point of making the user click "read more" to view the (presumably fully-loaded) page?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

It (theoretically) lets them have an idea how many people actually read the article, as opposed to just opening the page

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

Gives better analytics of how far people read they probably combine it with a N free articles mechanic.

And Joe Brandon still came out on top.

"Prince's campaign manager (for the 2021 NYC mayoral election) was 13-year old student Theo Demel, who believes that homework is unconstitutional."

This is like the 90s kid dream candidate!
