No. We got some good games but we got more terrible games and an insane amount of layoffs. A comeback would be more unions and less shareholders.

You call it a comeback. I call it lazy and going to the well often enough that you poison it.

Is Halo I actually good now? Not the campaign obviously. But the multiplayer?

In my opinion it is very good these days. Almost all of the major problems at launch have been resolved. There's a ton of game modes and maps. They added firefight, forge, custom games, infection, and there are like 15 different playlist to choose from.

They're actively working on networking improvements (three playlists use the new netcode currently, and they're using that to test how well it works before making the whole game use it).

Cosmetics are in a much better place than at launch. There are a ton of options and a lot of things work on every armor set.

The biggest issue imo is still the battle pass system. Limited time events (like the Christmas event) replace the season pass if you don't buy the paid version, so there isn't much to unlock at a given time unless you pay. But, paid passes never expire, and you can go back and buy old passes, and most passes contain enough credits to buy another pass, so it's basically a one-ti.e fee.

If you don't like Halo, nothing has changed that will make you like it. The game plays like it did at launch in terms of gunplay and movement. But the overall experience is in a much better state than at launch

I actually love Halo. Infinite was a pretty big letdown, but I heard they brought back Firefight. Between the cosmetic situation, double xp being locked to the current season, selling challenge swaps for real money, and multiplayer not hooking me, I lost interest quick. But I need to see if they ironed out some of the issues since I haven't played in a good while.

Except for all the PvE content that was promised. They ended up having as much PvE as a CoD game these days

This is a fair point. Forgeable AI is pretty sweet but it's not a replacement for proper campaign expansions unfortunately

Halo 1 campaign is great, always has been.

I enjoyed all of the campaigns except for Infinite.

Edit: BTW, I got your I=1 comment. I just wanted to reiterate how trash Infinite's campaign is.

I found infinite to be enjoyable, definitely better than the garbage campaign for halo 4.

Infinite didn't really seem to fit the storyline as far as I could tell, but I've given up on caring about that after the disaster that was the halo show.

I enjoyed the story of 4. The enemies and gameplay weren't very fun. But the story was fantastic.

Aside from the fact that 5 brought back Cortana and 2/3 of it was Locke chasing Chief, the actual story was solid and the Guardians were a fantastic stand-in for the Halo rings of the original trilogy, and the gameplay felt like what they intended for 4. I was pretty excited for the conclusion of the Prometheans and how they would resolve the new rampant Cortana.

Infinite was great at the surface, without much to add to the franchise, without a lot of variety or polish. And it just skipped a lot of potential story telling. It felt like an epilogue DLC to a Halo 6 game that was never made. Like, if you got a small super-sweet dessert for dinner that was only great for the first bite, and it just gets worse the more you eat. Then you were told they threw away the steak.
