Switch them around. Tien couldnt beat kid-goku, no contest against adult goku.

Why. Goku is stronger, no? Or as a young adult gohan was stronger, you mean?
At that stage, Gohan was going to replace Goku as the lead but the higher ups wanted more money and thought with the popularity of Goku that it was a bad decision. So Gohan WAS stronger than Goku for a bit.
Whhhaaat really? But the manga came before the anime right? Does it go differently in the manga? That'd be a huge cliff between the two. Or did the higher ups (of anine) press the writer relatively early on to make that change? Wild.
