isnt this the normal thing people do? gf seems shitty.

We don't know how long they've been together.

I would not want my first meeting with someone's mother to be on their deathbed. And as a grown woman, I wouldn't want my son's new piece of ass at my deathbed, either.

I definitely was a weirdo who didn't understand this. Girl I dated for two weeks shared she wasn't available because of a funeral and my stupid horny ass said, "I can go with you. It'll be like a date."

And she had every right to give me a wtf face.

And that's when I learned time and place.

I did it the other way. My grandmother was dying in the hospital and I invited a girl I'd gone on maybe two dates with to the vigil. She was like "uh ... no?" and I never heard from her ever again. And rightfully so.

Eh, some people don't like hospitals, or OP's mom.

Disagree I’ve heard many stories about people with OP’s mom.

Those kids on those multiplayer games constantly tell me what things they would do to my mom so wholesome 😍

Yeah, barring some kind of established issue with hospitals.

Can't really hold it against someone when they have avoidance of a place that's damn near universally traumatic, even with the best possible outcomes.

I worked in the damn things here and there over the years, and I despise being at one as a visitor, even when it isn't to visit a patient. I'll do it when necessary, but I know how that little kernel of dread feels, so I can't blame anyone that can't/won't visit in a hospital.

yeah, there will probably be plenty of new years for the gf, so why not spend this one with someone who's days are numbered.
