Does anyone think this is real?

[–] [email protected] 28 points 7 months ago

Everything is real on the internet

I'm glad you asked. It bends my brain imagining one person making up this conversation. He's clever. It also bends my brain that two people could have this conversation. either way it's kinda genius.

It's so full of strawmen that it's pretty easy to see someone making this up

[–] mindbleach 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's not, but the Christian apologetics are accurate.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I see no apologetics, just strawmen

If you've never had this exact bullshit pushed on you as sincere argument, count yourself lucky.

'Do you want that to be true?' is the sort of hair-pulling nonsense that makes you want to shake someone and ask what the fuck they think truth means.

'Why bother?' and 'Why be a decent human being to people around you?' are both just sad. Like these people have nothing else going on in their lives.

'You don't understand' or 'I was like you once' and other universal dodges are rhetorical dismissal requiring no effort or context whatsoever.

Bro I've had this shit pushed on me every which way, but Reddit Atheists have tried to convert me harder than any other religion.

[–] mindbleach 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

Rejecting bullshit is not a religion.

Why did you call this a strawman if you know it's what people actually try?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

Under normal circumstances, no Atheism is as much a religion as not owning a car is owning a car...

But then you get these "Euphoric Reddit Atheists" who treat it more like a faith, like a church dedicated to physicalism, a worship of Science but a lack of understanding of how to do Science beyond running into a church and yelling "FAKE!" at Jesus on the cross. It's fucking cringe.
