Life is tough. We all face obstacles and challenges, but what separates winners from losers is their determination to keep going. Remember this:

  • Every small step counts

  • Failure is just a temporary setback

  • You are capable of achieving greatness!

I have ADHD and anxiety. I’ve never been cleanly person, I don’t exercise, I’m fairly lazy. Im also going back to school at 35 and usually procrastinate in doing my schoolwork on top of every other daily task like housework or personal grooming. But sometimes even fun stuff, like it’s hard to have fun when you know you’re not doing stuff you probably should be doing.

My wife struggles with same issues, but she’s recently gotten on me enough times to get me to do certain things every day like wash the dishes or take out trash.

Finally doing stuff has made me realize how fulfilling it is to do something every day. I have started to enjoy doing this thing knowing it will make me happy and my wife happy and things will be more clean and orderly etc. I am very bad at making lists, I can spend days thinking about what I even should put on my list. Or I make a list and often get so overwhelmed once I see the 5,000 things I need to do.

But really what I’m looking for advice for, and it might seem simple. How do I figure out what to put on my list, what’s important to me etc. I feel like because so much of my life I’ve just not been doing shit it’s hard for me to even think of what a daily or a weekly or a monthly list would look like and what tasks would be on it? Is there somewhere where I can find the “follow these general tasks to live a happy healthy life” lol

If anyone has strategies for making lists or example lists and breaking down how you come up with it etc. I am making progress but really want to get disciplined and get on top of my shit

Hey everyone,

I've been thinking a lot about the concept of a growth mindset lately and wanted to open a discussion here to explore it further with all of you. A growth mindset, as coined by psychologist Carol Dweck, is the belief that our abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work. It's about embracing challenges, persisting in the face of setbacks, learning from criticism, and finding lessons and inspiration in the success of others.

With a growth mindset, we can push beyond our perceived limits, embrace learning, and use criticism as a tool for growth. The idea is not to see our abilities as fixed but as qualities that can be developed. This mindset can be applied to various aspects of life, from personal development to professional growth.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts and experiences:

  1. How do you cultivate a growth mindset in your daily life?
  2. Have you noticed a difference in your personal or professional life since adopting this mindset?
  3. What challenges have you faced while trying to maintain a growth mindset, and how did you overcome them?

I'm really struggling this week. I have been ok with myself I know I have fifty million problems right now but I'm not going to be able to to handle all at one time.

What's bothering the most is I don't have a safe space. I don't wish that on anyway this is a dark place to be in. Not to have anywhere to go to when you need it most is important. Being autistic, paranoid, and anxious not a good combination when it is on super high. Life is super hard right now and the only place that I can think to go to for help is jail and prison. That's sad when the only place for peace is 21hr lock down. I'd rather be there than to be around family and don't have friends. My own family just talks about me to one another about me and I don't even ask for help no more. Asking for help is just an invitation for them to tell me how I'm just a grown kids that dont want to work etc. I've been taking care of everyone but myself since I was a kid no wonder life is unstable. Im not blaming anyone though now that I vented I feel better though. Jail/prison is sounding more and more like a vacation!

I never want life to stop but having a people support system is important. What do you do when you don't have one?  it's hard. I don't even want support for money but to get a hug, to talk, to vent without being judged or talked about when you are vulnerable would be nice.

Having a bad day give me some motivation and thanks for reading!

I lost my 6-figure job in November. Have been job hunting ever since. 60 applications, 15 interviews total, and 6 final rounds so far. No bite so far.

Part of me is stressed out and frustrated. But I’m also encouraged by all the positive feedback I got from the companies who rejected me. It seems I’ve consistently done things right and I just need to keep doing what I’m doing until I get lucky.🍀

But it’s hard to stay positive after so many repeated rejections. Some positivity would be appreciated. Thanks.

Noticed it for a while. I could still cover it up, so I kept it for a while longer. Then my hairline started receding even worse so I decided to just buzz it off. At first I didn’t like it ngl. Now I’m used to it and I love it.

I know I look really good, girls know it too. I feel more confident. And one thing I love about it more than anything else: people don’t recognize me anymore. Especially the people from my last education. My old “friends” and classmates. They know me as an obese guy with a creepy goatee and hair. Now I am 26kgs lighter, no goatee and no hair. I am a completely different person.

You know how awkward it is when you see someone in public whom you used to know? I immediately become anxious. “Do I say hi to them or not?” Then I do, and they ignore me and I feel bad. Or I ignore them, and then I also feel bad. Well NOT ANYMORE! I saw one of those people at the mall recently, walked right by them, they did not recognize me and I LOVE IT!

Just wanted to share that ;-3

I knew it was of course. But I’ve finally experienced an eye opening situation for myself.

Lost all my friends after graduation 2 years ago. Reached out to one old friend last year, hoping to revive the friendship. Didn’t go anywhere. Tried again with a different friend, Jay, on new years day. She ignored me. Yet both still gleefully followed me up Instagram and facebook. Still looking at my posts and my stories. Never liking anything, just lurking.

Because they never unfollwed me, I figured they’d still care enough about me to get back in touch if I took the initiative. Having them on my socials gave me a bit of hope. But nope. They don’t want to. “So why even follow me then?” I thought, as I removed Jay from my socials, as well as deleting her phone number.

She’s evidently done with me. So why keep pretending. It feels liberating in a way. Usually I’m the one worrying about losing followers. Now I’m the one doing the removing.

One of my friends suggested me to go for morning walk to get energy for work throughout the day. I took it lightly initially. But it really is as important and eye opening as she claimed.

There's something different about the morning wind that touches my face and the energy it fills within. On the first day, I wore a full sleeves cardigan, jeans and socks to cover myself up. But today, I don't even need to wear these to feel warm. The energy I feel inside gives me the warmth I need. We start at 5:30 AM when it's completely dark and return home after a 3 km walk finished in half an hour, then we perform some yoga exercises specially Surya Namaskaram when the sun starts to rise.

I'm not talking about the positive effects on the body, that's obvious. But it has a such a deep motivational impact on the mind as well! All the toxins are released and the mind opens up to be able to function fully. I feel I can work effortlessly and don't need to strain my grey cells too much.

What’s going on guys. So I have a trick many of you may find helpful.

Many people talk about completely detoxing from social media and content, but I’m not sure it’s such a good idea.

If I wasn’t able to follow these channels and resources I don’t think I would have progressed to where I am today. ——————-

If you like what you’re reading so far, join this free newsletter:

Instead of cutting it out completely. Do these things.

Train the algorithm to change based on your goals. For example I only like content that’s about productivity and discipline on Instagram so when I go on my for you page that’s all I see.. you can do that on almost all platforms.

When I go on Instagram it acts as a motivator to me instead of a time waster. So whatever your goals are.. only like content based on them.

Be proactive in unfollowing or muting accounts that don’t serve your goals. This way, you’re not just passively consuming; you’re actively shaping your online environment to support your growth.

Another great thing that helps is to set specific times for social media. This helps in creating a healthy balance. Maybe dedicate a short period in the morning or evening for catching up.

I personally time block. Work for 40 minutes take 15 minute breaks. This allows me to get those times in during my breaks

Hope this helps.

When you're young, you're impressionable in many circumstances. I'm writing this advice because I was in the same boat. If I didn't go out and get drunk, I felt like I was missing out. If I didn't watch the newest Netflix series everyone was talking about, I felt the same way. However, the sooner you realize that all of this doesn't really contribute to your personal growth or happiness, the better.

It's cool to be up-to-date with the latest shows and movies, but when the credits roll, your life is still the same. It's great to achieve high ranks in games like Fortnite, but when you switch off the console, your real life is unchanged. Enjoying nights out is fine, but when the party's over and you're back to your routine, you're faced with the same reality.

The part of your life that truly matters is what happens when the distractions end

when the screen goes black, the game is over, and the weekend fades away. This is when you face the true quality of your life. Continuously distracting yourself is a way of avoiding the fact that you might not be content with where you are.

It's crucial to confront this reality sooner rather than later. Work on improving your life now, rather than spending it chasing pleasures that don't bring lasting fulfillment.

I personally want to tell you this because I never had anyone tell me this (and I've been playing catch up). I thought being young was a time when you're "free" and could do whatever you want. However, the more disciplined you learn to be at a young age... the better off you will be in the future. I want to give you guys the head start that I never had. So, if this resigned with you. Start being serious about your goals now.. Start learning skills now... You will thank yourself later.

Like a lot of you, I struggled for years to actually master my time.

it almost seems impossible.

We often hear "master your time" and think it's not really possible.. I was right there with you, feeling like there were just not enough hours in the day.

Every day was a battle, trying to keep up with everything life threw my way. It was the same routine: attempting to tackle an endless list of tasks, failing to complete them, and then waking up to the same challenge the next day. This is what happens when time controls you.

However, when you really break it down it's not that complicated. It starts with a straightforward approach – dedicating specific blocks of time to certain tasks and really committing to them.

But you can't set those blocks of time and half ass it.

You have to be intentional & in the moment and get rid of all distractions for these blocks of time due to the fact that the more focused you are during them, the more efficient you will get at the skills needed to move forward. The more efficient you get, the more you'll feel like you're actually able to control your time instead of your time controlling you.

Here's some tips when it comes to time blocking:

Set your schedule the night before. If you don't, you already lost. Setting your schedule the night before helps because the current day is still fresh on your mind and building on the day before is important.

Do the most important/hardest tasks in the morning. This is called "eating the frog". The idea is that by completing this task early, you get it out of the way, and it sets a productive tone for the rest of your day.

Multitasking is a myth. You could never truly focus on multiple tasks simultaneously with full efficiency. What we often perceive as multitasking is actually 'task-switching', where our brain rapidly shifts focus from one task to another. This constant switching can lead to decreased productivity and increased mental fatigue.

End your day with a review: This is probably the most important aspect. You should do this right before you set your schedule for the next day. I say it's the most important aspect due to the fact that you get more efficient by taking a look at your day and breaking down what you could do better. IF you're consistent with your daily reviews, your ability to control your time will get better and better.

Use a bullet journal: When you use digital planners, it can be harder to remember tasks because writing things down by hand enhances your ability to retain information.

I know these are just feelings. But..

I am 28M. I feel like should have started my creative endeavours or business risks at 21 or 22, so that I could have got a reliable side hustle to take some risks. But I did the safe thing. Got a job, and do average in it. I didn't even commit to the career thinking really donot identify with this career and that, I would do something more interesting later. I feel that the later is here, and i just feel lost.

Also, I know this is not true. That it's never too late. And to be honest ther definitely has been some progress in my life. It's just that nothing drastic. Nothing major. I feel worthless because am not doing anything amazing. The most interesting thing about me is that I have a decent paying job. I just cannot live with that truth.

I guess, as am writing this out, the summary is that dream a lot and do not have the courage to do it. I want to be more brave. I feel sad and dejected because of my own unrealistic standards of what should be doing at my age.

Back in school and through my first year of uni, I had a habit of putting things off.

Studying or diving into projects was always a last-minute rush, fueled solely by impending deadlines. I convinced myself that I thrived under pressure, but truthfully, I only worked when the pressure mounted.

Procrastination slowly chipped away at my potential. I felt constant guilt, my confidence plummeted, and it left me utterly miserable.

But I refused to live that way any longer. I knew change was necessary. I delved deep into the reasons behind procrastination, delving into the psychological and scientific roots.

Then, armed with this knowledge, I experimented with various strategies.

Guess what? I've largely conquered that habit, and it's transformed my life.

And now, I want to share these life-changing strategies:

Understand why you procrastinate:

Procrastination isn't just about poor time management or sheer laziness. It's about emotions—linking negative feelings like fear or overwhelm to tasks, leading us to avoid them. Our brains are wired this way, but it's a hurdle in the modern world.

Name and Acknowledge Feelings:

When the urge to procrastinate strikes, find out why. Sometimes, simply identifying that fear or emotion can diminish its overwhelming nature.

Small Steps:

Break daunting tasks into manageable segments. It's easier to commence when the steps are clear. Instead of attempting an entire paper, start with the first 200 words.

Craft a Clear Plan:

Map out precise plans for when and where tasks will be tackled. Saying, "I will do (this task) at (this location) by (this time)" significantly enhances follow-through, backed by research.

Visualize Failure:

Odd as it may sound, imagining the disappointment of failing your goal can spur action, even on off days. Our aversion to failure is a potent motivator.

Remember, overcoming procrastination is a gradual process.

These strategies aren't quick fixes, but with dedication, they yield results.

P.S. Join this free newsletter to uncover more productivity secrets and conquer procrastination once and for all.
