When you're young, you're impressionable in many circumstances. I'm writing this advice because I was in the same boat. If I didn't go out and get drunk, I felt like I was missing out. If I didn't watch the newest Netflix series everyone was talking about, I felt the same way. However, the sooner you realize that all of this doesn't really contribute to your personal growth or happiness, the better.
It's cool to be up-to-date with the latest shows and movies, but when the credits roll, your life is still the same. It's great to achieve high ranks in games like Fortnite, but when you switch off the console, your real life is unchanged. Enjoying nights out is fine, but when the party's over and you're back to your routine, you're faced with the same reality.
The part of your life that truly matters is what happens when the distractions end
when the screen goes black, the game is over, and the weekend fades away. This is when you face the true quality of your life. Continuously distracting yourself is a way of avoiding the fact that you might not be content with where you are.
It's crucial to confront this reality sooner rather than later. Work on improving your life now, rather than spending it chasing pleasures that don't bring lasting fulfillment.
I personally want to tell you this because I never had anyone tell me this (and I've been playing catch up). I thought being young was a time when you're "free" and could do whatever you want. However, the more disciplined you learn to be at a young age... the better off you will be in the future. I want to give you guys the head start that I never had. So, if this resigned with you. Start being serious about your goals now.. Start learning skills now... You will thank yourself later.
