In the quiet corners of our lives, battles are fought that often go unnoticed. I want to acknowledge the silent struggles that many of us face—the ones that hide behind smiles and silent tears. Whether it's the weight of anxiety, the ache of loneliness, or the shadows of self-doubt, you are not alone.

To those fighting battles unseen, your strength is awe-inspiring. Each day may feel like an uphill climb, but the fact that you continue to tread is a testament to your resilience. Remember that asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it's an act of courage.

Let's create a space to share our stories, to lend an understanding ear, and to remind each other that compassion is a powerful force. You matter, your struggles are valid, and there is hope even in the darkest moments.

26 months clean and feel about 80 percent back to normal. How long does it take your brain chemistry to fully recover from meth after getting clean? What is it like when your natural dopamine comes back? Please give me some hope!

If you're contending with a burning feeling inside that has you fed up with your lack of motivation and therein inability to get things done in your life, whether they're deadly important or medial tasks - please read on.

I just came from another conversation in this subreddit and I came away from that conversation realizing just how many young men in particular between the ages 20-40 feel completely misguided and lost, displaced and unmotivated to figure it out. The reason I came away with that conclusion is because after my public exchange in the other thread I received DM's from young men expressing their sorrow in their current meandering and the overwhelming message I received from them is that they're "uncertain how to change things."

So, this post is intended to act as a starting guide to get things moving. I hope this goes far and wide and assists many people, because I feel genuine grievance that life is so miserable for so many, especially when with just a little bit of help...it doesn't have to be.

First and foremost, if you're a person whom constantly deals with negative sabotaging self talk, read the next paragraph. If you're not someone like that, please feel free to skip the next paragraph.

I am going to teach you a technique I picked up along the way in my journey, well, it's more of a hack really. Over time, you've spoken so negatively of yourself that your body has actually had physiological and chemical reactions to it. As a result, you have a bit of work to do! Here is the hack: every morning when you wake up, look at yourself dead in the mirror and tell yourself 10 times "I am worthy of pursuing happiness. I forgive myself and I forgive others. I choose to pursue change." Don't just murmur it, proclaim it and believe it. If you brush your teeth with your right hand normally, brush your teeth with your left hand instead. In doing this, you're creating new neural pathways and you're attaching a message to it, actually reprogramming yourself. It doesn't stop there though, in your normal day to day, do things differently and attache that message to it 10 times. Normally don't do the dishes after you eat dinner? Do the dishes after you have dinner, and tell yourself the same thing 10 times. Anything that you have an option to do a different way than you normally do, do it. Do this for 1 month max, and I guarantee you that you will feel completely different. You will no longer loathe yourself and your focus will be on momentum and progression. When the self loathing thoughts and whispers come, you'll be able to dismiss them with ease because you'll know, this time, you're on a different path.

If you're a writer, great! This next part will be easy for you. If not, it's time to become one! But don't worry, it's not difficult. I have a very simple formula that anyone can do. You absolutely must, must, MUST write things down if you're truly committed to change. You must have four lists, and they are as follows:

  1. Master List: Everything you desire needs to go in this list. Need a new car? Write it down. Wanting to get into a new hobby? Write it down. Thinking about going back to school? Write it down. Hoping to find a partner in your life? WRITE IT DOWN! Every thing you wish to acquire needs to be clearly worked out in your heart, mind and soul. You need to spend time on this list and really explore yourself within to get an accurate list in front of you.
  2. Problem List: Everything that is a stumbling block in your life needs to go here. You can write it in point form or in great detail, it's up to you...either way, again with great honesty, everything that needs to be purged from your life that is detrimental to your being must be written here. If you're uncertain what those things might be, you need only search your conscience. Anything your heart speaks to you about, it's in your best interest to listen.
  3. Action List: Everything that needs to get done has to be written here, including all the things you've neglected to do over considerable periods of time. Small tasks and big tasks alike. If this means having to interact with someone you don't want to, then it's time to interact with someone that you don't want to, simple as that.
  4. Random List: Things that randomly occur to you regarding your journey needs to go in this list. A question you came up with that needs an answer, write it here. A realization or epiphany you had, write it here. Something that interests you and that you feel compelled to note, note it here. This list can come in handy at very unexpected times.

Now, to really get things moving, this is what needs to happen next: you have to become OBSESSIVE with your lists and executing your pending tasks in particular. You have to obsess over the feeling of crossing another thing off of your list, literally pondering on it day and night. It has to become the center of your desire. Over time as you get more and more things crossed off your list you'll find your momentum increasing a great deal, suddenly you feel great about yourself that you're actually able to observe change, things are getting done and you have the writing in front of your face to prove it and constantly remind yourself. If you choose to commit to operating this way, it's only a matter of time before you become so proficient in your system that you actually won't need to write down anything anymore, though many may still choose to.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of not staying in your head for too long. The action in your life must be equally yoked with your thought. People tend to live in their minds and when they think about things too much they blow it up and way out of proportion, for example take an athlete who has been out of action for a long period of time, they think about how nervous they are about getting back into action and they start thinking they won't perform well, then they get back in the game and perform extraordinarily well and they feel silly as they ask themselves why they allowed themselves to get psyched out...by their own mind! The same thing applies across the board, literally to almost everything. Try not to stay in your head in those looping thoughts, it really is detrimental. You're no good to others, until you're good to yourself. This means putting in maximum effort to exercise patience, good things come to those who are patient. As a society we need to get away from "I want it now" and get back to the "nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight, got to kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight" kind of mentality.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Every day is another chance, so let's do better in 2024! Cheers!

Don’t think about you situation too much, you’ll end up creating a problem that wasn’t even there to begin with.

The mind is a very powerful tool. Everything begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to, has power over you, if you allow it. In retrospect, if you keep on thinking about a certain negative thing over and over again, it will control you mind, so far as it will be the first thing you’ll think of when you wake up and the last thing before you sleep. Initially, it will completely take over 100% of your mind, a task that’s very hard to get rid of.

The best way to live life is to stop thinking about the worst. Instead, think positively in a way that whatever happens happens and you’ll learn from it, no matter the situation. A massive cause for people to panic, worry and become scared is overthinking. We are all guilty of this. Overthinking, quite frankly, ruins you. It will drain everything out of you, until there’s nothing else left. Overthinking ruins the situation, twists and swirls everything around, makes you constantly worry in fear and makes everything worse, when in reality, there is no need for it.

Understandably, saying “turn your negative thoughts into positive” isn’t a walk in the park and doesn’t just happen within thin air. It takes guts, time, patience and all your emotions to get through the darkest of days. As I said, time is crucial. It doesn’t take a day, a week or even a month to get rid of negative thoughts inside of your head, it may take a few years, to ensure you’re ready to let go of all the pain and torment your mind has gone through. But, believe you me, once you realise you’re ready and you start to brighten up day by day, it will be the best feeling ever. :)

You don’t get the same day twice in life. Today’s date is September the 26th 2023. Just a reminder, you’re never going to see this day again, make the most of it!

The more you pay the price, the more you improve.

The more you go above and beyond, the more you lead and you over deliver on your promises.

The more you do things others aren’t willing to do, the more you eventually expect success.

It’s no longer a question, it’s just inevitable!

Embrace your hustle. Embrace the struggle. Chase the dream.

Does anyone have any advice (tough love is accepted) for making big changes late into your 20s? I don't know if this is the right sub for this type of post specifically, if not I'll remove the post.

My problem is I'm a pretty lonely 20 something working a low effort job I hate, I make enough to get by and I do have friends mainly through work but because of that I struggle to find things to do in my days off. I want to find something new to do with my life but have basically no qualifications and feel trapped. I -really- struggle with taking that first big step.

I never really made many friends as an adult as I developed real bad social anxiety after school ended and basically cut all my old friends off, I tried reaching out to a few but it was so difficult seeing how successful and happy so many of them were that I felt like I'd just embarress them or waste their time.

I'm desperately lonely on the romantic side of things and haven't dated or been intimate with anyone since my teens, I never learned how to talk to or approach women and seize up in the rare case it does happen (some of my close friends think I might just be on the spectrum somewhere based on my other behaviours like this). I've had one or two friends try to set me up in online dating but I don't know how I feel about it. I worry about humiliating myself because I just don't consider myself attractive or interesting. I wonder why anyone would want to spend their time with me. Ontop of that my only real relationship in my teens ended poorly and I treated the girl very badly and worry that I'd do it again if in that position.

On top of this I'm pretty sexually frustrated and so spend a lot of my time alone watching adult material and I worry that will have had a negative effect on my brain, I don't even enjoy it or really get into it anymore. My sexual inexperience at my age along with body image issues make the idea of being intimate with anyone terrifying.

I was going to the gym a little pre covid but that fell apart after, attempts at continuing at home fell through a while back and I would struggle to even get myself past the first 5 minutes of a follow along video before dropping it entirely.

I look at friends who have zero issues talking to women and making big changes, starting new jobs, meeting new people or starting families and get so depressed wishing I could be them.

I feel like I need some stern words or tough love from someone who was also in my position.

Brand new build as of a few days ago. Intel 265K with an Arctic Freezer III 360mm using the included MX-6 paste.

Curious what temps should I be seeing? At idle I am sitting at 44 to 45 celsius. I decided to unzip Cinebench and install it.. it went up to 55 celsius. While playing Counter Strike 2 it went as high as 76 celsius.

I previously had an i7 11700kf with an unknown name AIO 360MM and MX-4 paste and at idle it ran about 34 celsius.

For some context if it matters.. I'm running my PC's old SSD Kingston KC3000 without installing any of the new motherboard stuff. Reason being is I had a defective MSI Spatium M570 drive in my new build, so I returned it and have a Crucial T700 coming in about a week. Then I'll install everything fresh.

Just curious if I should look into re-pasting or is this normal? If so, I'll do it when the new drive arrives.

I hurt a loved one and now she is skeptical about trusting me again. I want to prove her I have changed, we still talk openly, but I feel self hate for what I've done. This is obvious But it feels absurd. I feel like I can do better and I am sure I can do it, but the past completely kills me inside and stops me, as well as getting me impacient even though trust takes time to build. I need to become confident while embracing the guilt as an energy to improve. I need motivation and I need confidence.

I'm a 22 year old who gratuated from university this year. The problem is, for some reason, I never find a long-term job 8 months after graduation. I did try to find one, but progress had been sluggish, and after 8 months, I think I got burnt out from trying to find a job. Even if I somehow managed to find a long-term job, I am not sure I will like it. But I guess finding a job is the priority here.

To provide some motivation here, I still eat and sleep regularly in these 8 months. And I do have enough money to spend for now. I always tell myself to don't lose hope, and to believe in my self-worth.

Introduction

I'm a frequent user of Google Chrome Extensions for productivity in my daily work and have always wanted to create one for the Chrome Web Store.

Background

Last week, I had some free time and decided to start this as a new and interesting side project.

(Just a little background: I've been working online for 6 years as an e-commerce entrepreneur and digital marketer.)

The Idea

I began by asking ChatGPT for ideas for simple, easy-to-create productivity extensions.

I already had a few ideas in mind, and when I saw one in ChatGPT's list, I decided to go for it: a Chrome extension that allows users to play binaural music for focus (similar to BrainFM) and/or combine ambiance sounds (like a coffee shop, water stream, ocean, rain, etc.) to create a customizable "working mood" for each user.

ChatGPT also suggested including a timer for work sessions.

Development Process

I knew many people use these types of sounds to focus, but it usually involves opening a YouTube video in the background, which isn't the best user experience.

The first step was creating a mock-up in Canvas to visualize the extension's layout, colors, features, etc. I used only emojis and symbols so it would be universally understandable, regardless of language.

Next came the coding part. I understand and can write some basic HTML and CSS, but not enough to do it myself.

I thought ChatGPT might help if I provided instructions and my image mock-up, but it proved too complicated, and I quickly gave up.

Instead, I continued discussing with ChatGPT to craft a brief to send to a developer. We went back and forth; he asked about features, the logic of the extension, layout, colors, different sounds, and made some suggestions. In 2 hours, I had a perfect brief, written in markdown language.

It described the extension and its goals in detail, with a well-organized structure and everything a developer would need (how to organize variables, hex codes for colors, the 'skeleton' of the extension with different files and folders, etc.).

Hiring a Developer

I then needed to hire a freelance developer. Again, I used ChatGPT to write a job post based on the brief, and posted it on Upwork.

I received several applications and chose a Vietnamese developer with relevant experience and a reasonable fee of a few hundred dollars.

The rate was low because he only needed to follow the brief and translate it into code, without having to think about structure, variables, technologies, etc.

Launch and Reception

Once the contract started, he returned a few days later with a perfect extension!

There was no need for revisions or clarifications; there were no miscommunications or wasted time (and as we all know, time = money). I got exactly what I wanted. Even the developer was surprised by how comprehensive the brief was, asking if I was a developer myself.

I paid him and uploaded the extension to the Chrome Web Store. For the description, I used ChatGPT again to write it in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German, based on the brief.

ProductHunt Feature

Next, I needed users. I knew about ProductHunt as a platform to discover products, but not as a maker. I created an account, submitted my product (description written by ChatGPT of course), and waited for it to launch.

With zero expectations, I was surprised to start receiving upvotes, comments, and installs from the Google Web Store. People liked it!

I ended up being featured by ProductHunt, reaching around position #30 of the day. Although not in the top 3 or even top 20, to me it was significant for a small side project that I launched from scratch in just 1 week. I found it especially cool considering the strong competition that day, including big players with substantial marketing budgets, advanced products, and large, experienced product teams.

Moving Forward

It's been two days since, and I'm still getting upvotes on ProductHunt and daily installs. I've received feedback about bugs, which I've corrected, and I'm considering how to grow it organically (through TikTok, Twitter, SEO, etc.).

There are no expectations, deadlines, or pressure: I enjoy playing with this project when I have time. It's also fun to share about it on Reddit.

And of course, I use the app daily, so it's definitely useful for someone.

Monetization Strategy

The app is free, and I don't plan on adding paid plans, as that would be too complicated.

For monetization, there's a small 16:9 clickable image space currently displaying the app's logo, but it could be used for affiliate offers or rented to advertisers (only for products related to productivity so it fits the users). It's an easy code change, but I'll wait until I have at least 1,000 - 2,000 users.

Another option is to sell the app and recoup the development costs plus make a profit.

Conclusion + link to the extension

That's it! I hope you found this helpful and motivating for launching your projects!

If you're curious about the extension, it's called ABF (Audio Brain Focus) and is available here:

If you have feedback, find bugs, or want new features added, please let me know! Maybe it will help you focus on getting motivated!

I often try to find a girl with which i could share it all. Maybe look for someone like she could become my emotion bouncing board. As much as i remember, i haven't been able to open up completely to anyone, neither friends and neither any prospective girlfriend since they haven't asked me which also implies that i also haven't had any relationship in my 24 years of age. I should've learnt to be self sufficient in this by now but clearly i am not. To find someone, i have got out of my comfort zone, made gestures, and went to an extent that this process has made my selfrespect is sadly go down the drain. How can i practice to regain my self respect and be emotional self sufficient if i am starting from scratch. I have negligible amount of self-confidence, i have don't know since when made myself victim in my head.

Motive of writing this is, in 2024, i dont want to feel this way or atleast want to get better than what i have felt this year or all these past years.

Here I go again. I’m a 24 year old who took a hiatus from university back in 2020. For personal reasons. As a result I just feel left behind. By everybody really. I know this is a stupid way of thinking. My peers aren’t my competitors, but I can’t stop thinking that I’m way behind on everything. I don’t work. I don’t have any money (thankfully I still live with my folks and they take care of me). I know, logically a few years (4 to be specific)here and there aren’t a big thing but it feels like my future is ruined. It’s hard to put my feelings into words but it does sometimes feel like it’s too late for me. Now that is one stupid thing to say but sometimes your brain refuses to accept facts. I’m sorry, this wasn’t what I wanted to say, but anywho it’s not worth withholding either. I try to be positive but it is hard sometimes.

I guess I don’t know what to say here. Originally I thought about asking for help. Not sure for what. Maybe I just need to vent? Anyway, if you got any tips for how I can get rid of my negative thoughts or how to improve my situation, feel free to chip in. Otherwise thanks for reading and have a lovely rest of your day.

Hello, i search sth that help me in times when I dont feel like to do anything productive... Of course, coffee helps, but tolerance creep up very quickly... Same with kratom (which is even more dangerous)...

Then I heard about bunch of herbs/supplements/substances that people claim it helps with motivation, like: rhodiola rosea, ginkgo biloba, bacopa moniery, good b-complex, various amino-acids (eg. tyrosine, theanine or tryptophan) etc., fish oil, tulsi tea etc.. But in this department mileage greatly vary...

I cant believe: Is there really no (legal and at least relatively cheap) substance that increases motivation as reliably as coffee? It seems to me that everything else is hit or miss (considering how many brands make each supplement and how different their quality is, it can take years to figure out what (besides coffee) works for them (when we're talking about increasing motivation)... I'm looking for a "shortcut"...
