Amazon is a company in the technology sector. They might be a retailer but they are also a part of big tech and the foundation of much of the Internet. A large portion of their workforce are tech workers.

Articles like this are not focused on warehouse employees, they have to go into the office to do their jobs at all. This article is talking about people who don't have to go into work to perform their job... Like tech workers.

So like it or not, this is tech news.

Exactly. You should have said it so others don't have to point it out.

I finally deleted Twitter from my phone a couple weeks ago.

I only used it for porn for the last 3 years and hadn't been on in over a month but I saw an article on here and was curious. So I opened it up and looked to see how the porn situation was going. I was going to keep it around if I could find a bit of good porn. But I scrolled and scrolled down through my feed and I only had politics, bigots, ragebait, and hateporn. I hadn't realized it had gotten so bad... I also have no idea where all my porn creators fled to.

Oh well, nothing of value was lost.

Hopefully this will include groceries. I hate when I go to buy something and it says $9.99 and I get up to the register and they hit me with this stupid, obnoxious hidden fee!

I only have a $10 bill, it says it costs less then $10. Why is it not false advertising to have it say $9.99 when it costs $12.37 at the register?

The whole thing is a scam.

It's difficult for me to be happy seeing Google do all this, however a lot of what they are doing is actually pretty cool. A couple years ago when there was a wildfire 7 miles away I was able to watch the spread and know when I wanted to get out. It was a bit clunky to get to but that was through Google. It was clear and concise and it was updated at the same time as the first service websites.

Actually I would assume that most people with 3 or more drives are running some form of RAID 5.

With 4 drives and this structure I receive the capacity of 3 drives. The final drive is called the "parity" drive which keeps some kind of copy of the information on it. If one drive fails then I can replace it with a new drive and rebuild the data from parity. This is a long process that requires the data off the parity drive and the other two drives. But you can do this with any disk, from any other three disks.

It's really cool. Sure there are speed benefits but the real kicker is the size of the pool. With current tech I can fairly reasonably get four 18TB drives SSD's have a long way to go before they affordably reach that kind of capacity.

I just bought 4 hard drives. They are the most cutest effective way of storing data for most people. I'm pretty sure tape is more expensive, if it's not there are other issues like sequentially written data. Anyway, this is a dumb example and I don't expect old reddit to last.

At the end of the article it says he's being held at a mental hospital until he is well enough to serve his sentence.

Fuuck.

I get it but this reads as:

Be mentally unwell Get seduced by chatbot to commit treason Get caught receive the help you need to be a stable human Spend 9 years in prison Get released as a mentally unwell individual

There's some weirdness going on with how Ukraine didn't ban Nazi symbols relating to this unit.

In Canada courts determined they couldn't condemn the unit as a whole which is not cool but you can condemn individuals.

But the real truth seems to be that this poster is posting anti-Ukraine propaganda. By reading deeper into the subtext, and in light of Russian propaganda where they propose that Ukrainians are nazis. This would seem to indicate that the OP is a pro-russian sympathizer.

Riding a bike. I like trails where I don't have to worry about cars, put an audiobook on and I just ride and ride and ride. I can honestly just go into trance with the rhythm of breathing and pedaling.
