Abrahamic religions are the worst, regardless of which variant.

Tbf there is a lot of money in propaganda. I don't know how someone who grew up in some backwards-ass rural town/village in some hyper-conservative area in the deep south of the US is supposed to develop the critical thinking enough to look past fox news and actually do research. I'm not excusing them, but like, I understand why they don't believe its happening.

Let say, EU is at 90/100 in terms of freedom

PRC is at 5/100

North Kora is at 0/100

Where do you think the USA is?

If you ask me in 2015, probably 70/100

After 2017-2021 it's at 50/100

Now its something like 10/100

Saying the "USA is far from becoming China" feel like saying "China is far from becoming North Korea".

Like, imagine saying to Chinese dissidents "Hey at least your country isn't as bad as [Another terrible country]"

Like... dude... its that whole "Stop complaining, 'there are starving children in Africa'" thing again. You're invalidating other's fears which is why people on the thread doesn't like it.

Your focus should've been "China is not exactly better", not "The USA is still better than China". Which just have different implications. In the former statement, you are attacking PRC, which everyone here would agree. In the latter, you would sound like you're defending the US, which is why people won't like it. Your statements are in the latter category.

Um...

Nah.

No offense, but as an Asian American who was not born into this country and had to naturalize. I don't exactly feel safe.

"Constitutional Protections" is not magic, is just people beliving in a set of practices, sort of like a religion. If people stop believing, "Constitution" is effectively dead.

Did you know, in People's Republic of China, "Freedom of Expression" is in the constitution?

Article 35 Citizens of the People’s Republic of China shall enjoy freedom of speech, the press, assembly, association, procession and demonstration.

Well see how that turned out. Same is happening with the US.

The military is being purged of anyone who values the constitution over trump.

Of course, I hope the institutions of democracy survives. But its not guaranteed. I don't exactly feel too optimistic. Perhaps if I was a white man born in the US, I'd feel safer. (no offense to white men btw)

If you’re sharing walls with other households and they’re not doing the same as you and they are not getting treatments, you have my condolences.

(I'm in this comment and I don't like it 🙃)

Economy is too fucked to move. Depression is too severe to have the energy to deal with moving. Dealing with rent is just so fucked up, too expensive. So yea... kinda stuck here with my shitty family for the meantime... 🤷‍♂️

Its almost like the entities that designed this universe delibriately make it harder for you to quit. What a evil joke. You get "plot armor" just so the audience gets to watch you suffer.

Welp, I hope y'all like this. A shitty ass truman-show with a character that is depressed af and has various conspiracy theories about the fabric of reality itself, existential crisis, and a fascist takeover in the country, as being a immigrant and racial minority, having zero power to change anything. And theres the possibility that this might not even be reality, truman show, simulated universe, or even just a brain floating in empty space hallucinating all this.

(Just ranting, feel free to ignore)

Edit: Actually nvm, I'm just having a wild speculation. I have no idea why people use this date format. 🤷‍♂️

I think its more like... Imagine conversations going like this:

"When did the moon landing happen again? I forgot."

"July 20th"

"When? Last year?"

"No, two years ago, 1969."

July 20th, 1969

That's how this date format came to be. At least that's what I assume.

In Chinese, its also Month, then day.

Its always "五月 三十一号" (May 31st), never "三十一号 五月" (31st May)

When saying a day in history, the full format is used: 一九六九年 七月二十日 (1969 Year 7th Month 20th Day), but when you use it during every day life to refer to a day in the same year, the year is omitted. If you are referring to the same month, the month also get ommitted.

TLDR: Not unique to "Americans"

Its like running away from Darth Sidious and then you find a Jedi to save you.
