He seems like a great guy. I just can't stand his acting.

That every time people had sex, the woman became pregnant. I thought that every sex scene in a film meant the film had to be stopped for 9 months until the actress could give birth.

Clarke's third law. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Quicksand thing is fucking stupid though.

I was speaking to my wife about our schooling and saying how much I enjoyed RS. We had a teacher who made a point of plainly, and without bias explaining all the mysterys of human beliefs. It was truly a fascinating subject. Whereas my wife's RS consisted of a minister coming in and reading the bible. We're the same age, from the same country.

Whist that's a shame for Guy Pearce (Memento is one of my favourite films), I get where the exec is coming from. There's certain actors I can't stand and won't watch a film they're in. Tom Cruise, Keanu Reaves and (obviously) Mel Gibson. However, the difference is I realise I'm probably wrong, and should never be put in charge of a studio.

This is what happens when the mass of memes is so heavy it collapses upon itself.

There's no reason RS, when taught well, can't be secular. In fact, in order to be taught well it really has to be. A good teacher explaining all the world's religions, their beliefs, and looking at the reasons people believe what they do, should at least encourage agnosticism in the students.

£11.5M of public funding down the drain.

£11.5M of public funds to build a road to nowhere over a peat bog. Good job everyone.

Surprisingly, there is no law declaring English the official language of the UK.

In fact, English is just the de facto official language of the UK, which means it is not legally sanctioned as official but spoken by the majority.

England and Scotland do not have any official languages. Northern Ireland’s official languages are English and Irish.

Reddit had a number of Motorsport subs I followed. I understand Lemmy doesn't have the users yet to have dedicated subs for them all (some were pretty sparsely populated even on Reddit), but I was hoping a general, everything but F1, community existed/could be created.
