Hi Everyone!

Rules

Please read the iRacing Sporting Code - This is extremely important, and will be worth the time it takes. The iRacing UI will also ask if you've read this before joining your first official session. We will follow the iRacing rules on clean racing.

Protests will be handled after races are finished, outside of extreme cases. They can be submitted privately to myself or publicly in the thread. Both parties will be able to tell their side and then 2 uninvolved members will be asked to make a decision.

Setups: Open setup races, but please don’t bring setup shop sets. I’m not going to police it too hard. Building your own setups is perfectly fine and the iRacing baselines are generally pretty decent too.

Getting Started With iRacing

With some members not having use iRacing before, I felt like it would be good to add a section about getting started. This will set you up with a 1 month subscription, the UI installed, graphics configured and into a test session.

Signing up

https://www.iracing.com/membership/

The iRacing signup process offers a discount to new members, at ~40% off. This is a one time deal and if you choose to renew your membership it will be at full price. Many long term subscribers work around this by purchasing one year subscriptions during the yearly Black Friday sales.

Our league is setup that a minimum subscription of 1 month, starting on Aug. 1 will get you all the way through the season. For a new account a 1 month membership is $7.80 USD.

When you signup be sure to DISABLE the Auto-Renew subscription if you would not like to continue after the conclusion of the league.

Install the iRacing UI

When you log into the iRacing Member Website for the first time after signing up it should take you through a First Startup Guide which will guide installing the sim software, iRacing UI and any other necessary dependencies.

Graphics and Triple Monitor setup

I'm going to link to an external source on this, as Dan Suzuki has covered this really well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-irPlVdDdJo&t=615

Joining The League

In the sidebar of the UI select "Find a League"

Search for "Lemmy iRacing League"

If there's interest in a group practice session I'll get one going, and then I'll be available online at least an hour before each race. Please leave any questions here in the thread and I or someone else should be able to help.

Pretty cool that they're doing a separate game like this. I wonder if there will be VR support.

This is me trying out the new dirt surfacesfx adjustments and rally tires in Custom Shaders Patch. It feels surprisingly good! And looks amazing, as AC usually does. And yes I crashed...

Title basically. I got a Fanatec (don't hate me for it ok?) CSL DD 8nm and I mostly play BeamNG with it. As everyone probably knows, this game has extremely unforgiving, dangerous and strong FFB, especially when going off road or crashing. I'm not a strong person so I don't hold the wheel very hard when driving. This means when ~~a skill issue~~ one of the above mentioned events happen, the wheel oscillates and vibrates quite hard.

I do have interpolation and smoothening enabled but I don't want to crank it up too high in order to save details. So can the vibration significantly hurt the hardware? I'm planning to get a Clubsport QR1 soon to eliminate one of the concerns but I still don't know if everything else is going to be fine. I'm not able to repair or replace the hardware every few months after all

I ordered a Fanatec CSL DD bundle which, as everyone probably knows, comes with a plastic quick release system called QR1 Lite. This system was known for being unreliable and breaking back in like 2022 but it looks like there were some revisions and now nobody talks about it. Is it reliable enough now or should I order a QR1 (non-Lite) asap? I don't care about the noise or flex but only about long-term reliability.

P. S. I know it's probably better to ask this question on the Fanatec forum but I don't really want to create an account just for it. I better don't give my data to another company when it's not necessary.

EDIT: QR1 is not available here anymore. RIP my wheel connection pins

I want to get into not very serious sim racing so I need to buy my first setup. Direct drives are not officially available here and import taxes are so high that things like Moza R5 or Fanatec CSL DD cost around $900-1200 (if I buy 3 pedal set too which is necessary) which is not very acceptable. There are quite a few deals on used belt-driven wheels though and it looks like the ones in the title are the best ones I can get (the price is around $500-600 for full base+wheel+pedals bundles). Though I'm not sure if the Fanatec one has table clamps included which is very important for me and can be quite a hassle if they aren't. There's also stuff like T300 RS GT and T248 (even new ones) but they are significantly worse afaik so I don't say much about them. Anyways, what do I choose in this case? I mostly care about balance (e. g. T248 is powerful but slow which doesn't allow drifting) and quality of FFB. I don't need any load cell pedals (physical disability -> not enough strength to use them) or console compatibility (I play only on PC) which makes the choice even harder.

EDIT: I found a way to get a DD for an almost acceptable price. Now I'm mostly looking at Fanatec CSL DD

As per title, I'm trying to join the official server of Shutoko Revival Project, but it crashes AC every time.

If I play single player or join a different server racing on SRP, AC doesn't crash.

Tried latest untested CSP (0.2.2) and 0.1.79, on latest I get a generic crash message, on 1.79 I get an error with CSP.

I tried reinstalling the track and the cars, no change.

I also have a crashlog but I can only read about missing cars textures and such, which is strange since it doesn't happen if I play single. If there was an issue with those textures I woulnd't be able to play single either, would I?

This is on Linux.

Thanks in advance!

I can't access their Discord server since it's gated behind a phone verification, that's why I'm trying here

What is the simulator that you drive the most? Do you have one main sim or multiple ones?

Seen a few articles where people have replaced the elastomers in other pedal sets with springs, has anyone done this with Sprints? I'm feeling to do this based on steel springs being more durable than rubber blocks.

Looked into it a little myself, but this isn't my area and not really sure what id be looking for.

So, it just arrived today. I went through two installs before I was happy with the feel. A few hours driving on it, and I love the control I have on trail braking. I'm still getting used to it. But, I'm happy with the purchase!

Seems like Turtle beach is entering the simracing market. Seems like a decent deal for 650$ for base+wheel+pedals+buttons
