Maybe it's time to finally give it all up and buy that little sailboat ⛵

I learned programming with Java and then thankfully never had to use it since CS102. HATRED

This is only tangentially related, but the best thing you can do is make stuff instead of buying it. Somewhat ironically, community building and self sufficiency will be more important than ever. Yeah everyone is going to say electronics but I feel like we all have enough of those already. Forbidden knowledge is far more valuable. Kind of doomer but... that's where I'm at lately.

I got fired 6 months ago and it's been a crazy journey. I got super strong, biked over a thousand miles, traveled, and started an unsuccessful business. But also started some pretty bad habits and got depressed, and spent the majority of my savings. Now I have a part time job for minimum wage that is extremely dangerous and risky. It's a trade off.

Yes. Housemate or roommate mean anyone who is sharing a roof with you that you mostly don't bang

The Fifth Risk is a very good read for anyone who might be interested in a finer grained look into the lesser-known functions of our government 👍

Worth a watch. Good interviews with locals.

Some towns have gotten 50% bigger in less than 2 years as new people moved in. Schools and infrastructure were not prepared.

Why is this happening? And - as seen in the comments on this thread - why are you a racist if you ask about it?

To be clear: immigration is important, and necessary, but I had not heard or seen the impact that this huge surge of people have had on many small towns until I saw this.

If your reaction to someone asking this simple question is anger: that's a problem. Feel free to treat me like an idiot and back up your opinion with data. Otherwise, I don't understand why we should be obligated to treat this massive influx of people better than our own citizens. No other country does it.

If your bag needs wheels, it is, by definition, not a carry-on.

So tired of people bringing massive bags in the plane that they cannot lift into the overhead bin.

Pack lighter

Or

Check your bags

I have a bunch of old bare hard drives with tons of content sitting on them, and I was thinking about setting up a new NAS / piracy Linux box, as a backend for Plex or similar.

I want to be able to index my old content and automatically grab new episodes of TV shows and popular movies, with minimal fussing around after initial setup. I am capable with technology, so happy to spend time getting it set up in the first place.

Where should I start?
