Yeah I suppose you're right, I've only heard about this regarding Guangdong and the likes. That said the cost of living is still significantly less than most Western countries. I suppose I just meant that it's easier to adapt and avoid the social issues if you have money but that applies anywhere.

Well other than growing around a large community of Han Chinese immigrants who all have different views on it sure. They are all generally aware of the racism issues in China particularly against black people. I'm assuming you have a much broader experience in China yourself and have seen otherwise outside of forums? If so I'd be more than happy to be wrong. But if first hand accounts from people who love China tell me that the country has a major issue with rampant racism, and have even told me that I wouldn't be a good fit for the country due to not being light skinned, I'm obviously taking that to heart.

It's possible to be critical of a country's issues without implying that I'm accusing the entire population of being racist ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Its worth noting I mean as an immigrant who is not ethnically Chinese. It's a tough place to adapt to if you aren't financially stable. Do note that my knowledge comes from the experience of people from Australia.

Exactly. If you are financially stable and can fit within what is considered socially acceptable then it's a great place to live.

One of my closest friends has been living in China for several years now. He's white, and his wife's Chinese parents said to his face, "at least you aren't black". People there casually refer to black people by the slur. I know there's many racists in the west too, but in Australia I can make progress as a minority, in China it's institutional, and in your face. Hard to feel part of the community if you are from a race that is discriminated.

That said, I was told it's less due to straight up hate and more from ignorance.

Yee game development is very accessible nowadays. Fortunately it still requires great effort to make a good game.

A huge amount of games in the indie scene are made by zoomers. Lethal company was made by a 21 year old. The current game industry is composed of mostly millennials, but still a lot of zoomers.

If you want to be able to buy the game physically then sure it would be nice. But as someone who works in the games industry, I can say that you'd be alienating a gigantic chunk of the games industry especially the indie scene. Physical game distribution is really expensive, ethically dubious, and actually acts more as a marketing tool than a means to make sales.

I work for a pretty big studio where I am and we can't afford to do conventional physical distribution. The last studio I worked at only could do it because our publisher had connections.

But that doesn't have to be the nail in the coffin. You have access to the internet. You can make your own physical media by purchasing drm free games and storing it in something quality. if you can't for a specific game then you should vote with your wallet. It'll eventually come to gog or something.

China is very much not low racism. You will encounter quite a lot of racism especially if you are black. Everyone is different but the racists are far more public about being racist.

Blu-Ray is very proprietary and DVD-Video requires licensing. Some games also have on disc DRM which imo is still akin to making it a proprietary medium.

You can own software without needing to use dated distribution methods. Look at GOG. You can download and keep your games in any way you want forever. And you don't have to deal with annoying formats or media that's hard to back up.

The bedrock UI is far more controller friendly. And it has aim snapping features and so on.
