I had a couple of friends who work on hotel renovations. A crew would go in and work on 4-6 rooms at a time. They would have each one at a slightly different stage and rotate in new rooms when they finished a room. The schedule was intense. Basically as fast as the last stage could dry they were applying the next one. Rooms took less than a week and that included carpet, walls, a complete bathroom reno.

On a side note regarding chamberlain. He realized Britain wasn’t ready to fight Germany. They needed to rearm. Those few years allowed them to build a few thousand modern ighters which paid off durning the Battle of Britain. No appeasement and no spitfires.
