It's probably off gassing aromatics from the molded plastics parts. Anything aromatic (in an organic chem context) is possibly carcinogenic. Past that its semi-volatile phthalates and other possible additives and light volatiles that may be off gassing especially from the unit's heat generation/dissipation.

Offgassing testing is common (think new car smell...Yeah unfortunately that's carcinogenic too, but we're testing for stuff now). I'm pretty surprised they didn't either invest in the right types of plastics that wouldn't have potentially toxic emissions...unless they did and didn't care until someone noticed and spread the word.

I think 23nMe looks into genome related predisposal to health issues. Like "this sequence here is related to high probability of pancreatic cancer" or some bullshit like that.

In the hands of hackers, I guess it could be used to target individuals for highly specific scams or something like that. That's only what I can think of though. Who knows what they'll use it for and if it even has identifiable personal info past just ancestry.

The tinfoil hat theory is that this info could be used to charge extra for insurance premiums/denial of coverage...

Dude who was Manipulating my boss (who we didn't know at the time was declining in mental health due to huntingtons disease) got fired.

This guy was a ruthless climbing saboteur and also allergic to work. Everything he touched went to shit, tried to skirt the line of firable offenses saying he was our "union rep" but everyone hated him especially management. We actually work in a reasonable place and at least our department has decent salary even for no experience kids fresh out of college. Most people that leave try to come back as the grass was not greener.

Anyway, he finally committed a fire-able offense after my boss died and his manipulated shield was gone and replaced with a really good manager that didn't take shit like that. He then tried to reapply under a fake name but he's a fucking idiot and was found out.

Fuck that guy. Good riddance. I found out he now works for DHS (dept. Of homeland security) so fuck us but whatever, at least he's out of my life.

Reverse engineering to determine safety is what UL does. If anything here, the charger needs to account for fucked batteries with fail-safes but as long as the batteries are fine, it shouldn't be a problem

Def not UL Listed

Do it with nails. (Most) Nails are made of steel. You likely won't make it anywhere near the MRI bed before they start doing their thing though

The cause is number 1. Himself

Looking at a 4070ti or a 4080 to upgrade my dual 1080s from my other post but now I'm not sure which 3rd party model to choose (ASUS TUF, MSI, ZOTAC, Gigabyte...). I'm looking for longevity and not specifically max power if that means a shorter life. Using it mostly for general gaming. Mostly FPS and such.

What's the difference?

Is it just added cooling for boosted performance?

Why does the price change ~$400?

Chances are im either too dumb or don't use any programs that would require overclocking/boosting.

I'm willing to shell out the $ if it's worth it but I have no idea. I may wait until the 50s come out to pull the trigger but that's an issue for later.

Howdy yall. I'm looking to upgrade my current setup. I had SLI 1080s back when the 1080s came out but now no games support SLI, so I'm essentially down to a single 1080 and I'm struggling to play some new games.

Anyway, looking for a suggestion for a new "future proof" card that is compatible with my setup and if there are significant bottlenecks elsewhere. Im also not too keen on all of the different versions of each card. I assume my i7 needs to be updated as well but I'm not that bright. Willing to spend the $ but don't want something that's unnecessary.

Here's my current setup (I have 32gb memory instead of 16gb) https://pcpartpicker.com/b/3h4CmG

Yes I picked it because of the name Yes I understand I made poor financial decisions in 2016, but hey, it's gotten me this far. Just lookin for help
