HD 2D games (alien.top)
submitted 7 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Looking for HD 2D games, with high-res, hand-drawn sprites that have a ton of animation. Things like:

Streets of Rage 4

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

Hollow Knight

Cuphead

What are some other games in this "style?"

EDIT: Why would you downvote someone looking for GAME suggestions in the GAMING subreddit?

So I was upset when the first horse died and didn’t like the one you got immediately after and even called it mangy horse, like c’mon mangy horse we gotta go this way. Then when I finally got to pick a new horse I picked the beautiful grey one and then instantly regretted it. Sora is beautiful but I wished I had picked Mangy Horse instead and gave him a proper name. I didn’t realize how much he’d grown on me till it was too late.

I'm talking about those that play the same games 2 or more times. You already know how the game plays and you know how the story goes. Wouldn't you rather spend that time playing a new game? I've only got so much time to play and a I have huge backlog. I never found myself picking an game I've played already over a new one. I'd like to know your thoughts.

Walking around the first village is a great, low pressure introduction to the controller and he loves playing hide and seek with the kids.

Within a day he was learning to fly the space ship and it blew his mind when he landed on the Tornado planet (he loves tornados).

Now he's teaching his 3yo sister the controls and showing her all around the village, introducing her to all the aliens.

I actually started drawing this for my son, he loves Payday 2. It was originally just going to be Sonic wearing the Hoxton/Houston mask. As that's my son's favorite mask and Sonic is his other favorite video game. But we kept having more and more ideas so the drawing got out of hand. So I ended up drawing an entire heist scenario, where platformer characters are just resorting to breaking into a bank vault rather than going out and collecting things in the games.

I stumbled upon warhammer a while back, and i found it facinating. As a person thats always found the darker twisted sides of the human condition utterly spellbinding, especially when you bring in religions, "sins" and survival mentally and so on. This was Just like hitting Gold.

What are some books, games and other things i should look into if i wanna run full speed at warhammer universe, and soak up as much as i can of it?

There probably is better forums to ask this, but i dont know any. So.... Figured id ask here!

Let me preface that I've been gaming since I was 10, own a PS5 and had an Xbox Series X both at one point (and played Game Pass)

But man... after spending the summer going to garage sales, finding older / retro games for PS2, GameCube, SNES I've realized that games are not any better than they are these days, or not even near the amount of originality that came with said games.

I've played some great games like Ghost of Tsushima, the Tomb Raider Reboot on PS4 and loved those, looking into the future of games I'd want to get on PS5 and the list seems rather small, maybe I've consider GTA 6 and the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, but really that's about it -- and I usually try new things but haven't found a modern day game on the PS5 that really hooks me in.

I find myself going back playing Donkey Kong Country on SNES, Tetris on GameBoy, or even having a blast playing Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PS1 -- games like those while tied in nostalgia just seem to have been made better -- I just don't know what changed. I've also been collecting older video game magazines like GamePro and EGM -- and it shows so much excitement around video games.

My question is too, is it because rental stores disappeared and now we're stuck with a 50-70 dollar game (refund if we can, sometimes not always the case) -- did developers get lazy? Small studios bought out by big companies? What about exclusives being faded out, or everything being ported over to every system?

I wanted to hear the thoughts of people on this considering the news of Sony showing recently that stuff which you’ve bought online can be taken away at anytime. Which we’ve known for a while at this point tbh.

I also feel like the potential solution is to make digital as reliable as physical as in it can’t be “taken” away from you somehow. An idea being something like if you buy a game on the PS5 if somewhere down the line you’re not able to download that you’re able to access it in another way. Because if buying isn’t owning piracy isn’t stealing in my opinion and that’s the only solution right now.

The reboot is a typical 3rd person shooter with platforming. Focuses mostly on combat, barely any focus on exploration. It feels like a reskin of Uncharted. Then if you play the original games or the LAU reboot, there is more focus on traversal. There is a sense of isolation where there is just Lara completely alone in this giant space. That's another thing that was lacking. Scope. You don't have these absolutely massive vistas where you can get lost in how alone you are.

Are there any plans for the series to pull away from the Uncharted clones?

I got it a while back for free on the Epic Store and it is really wowing me. It's not the most complicated story but the graphics style, puzzles, and presentation are giving me something that I haven't felt in a while. Anyone else out there?

Title, lol. Maybe a super speficific question, but in your opinion, what are the 2D Platformers with the most beautiful backgrounds? I LOVE the ones on Shovel Knight, I was playing it and couldn't help but stop and admire them for a bit. Their use of colors and parallax is amazing, and it (maybe underrated-ly) looks amazing with the 3D effect on the 3DS. Going backwards, I think that Megaman, while at its most popular during the Megaman 2 and Megaman 3 era, really upped the quality of their backgrounds by Megaman 5 and 6, with 6 in particular having some really beautiful ones that compliment the levels perfectly and even if they are all on the same "graphical level", those later NES entries really look much better compared to the previous ones.

What are your opinions?

So I have been someone in the R/DreamlightValley Reddit for awhile usually commenting and upvoting posts but I recently made a mistake of posting too much and being reported for spamming now every post I make seems to get downvoted and reported on that subreddit Idk why but I feel like I am unwelcome in that subreddit now,

Maybe it’s just my imagination but I feel like nobody there likes me anymore just because of a mistake I made when I was tired,

Didn’t know where to post this so I chose gaming
