I won't post a photo because privacy, but there isn't much to see anyway, everything past the hedge along the lane at the end of my drive is white. Not as in snow covered (which everything is, too), but as in cloud covered - gone. The fields, the hills, the neighbours, everything past the hedge has vanished in to the fog lol
I'm certain you didn't mean that they are, but the meme format kinda implies it, so I just thought I'd point out from here on that intersection that the two groups aren't mutually exclusive😊
(also shout out to fellow enby and or agender afabs lol)
Otherwise both this and op are sadly spot on.
Because actual leftists reject the entire existence of the state, and therefore its institutions. We know that electoral politics are nothing but theatre that is corrupt by design and exists solely to provide the illusion of choice to placate the public, and manufacture consent for our own oppression and that of others. Even if we thought there was any sort of merit to it, we know that no one who threatens the system will ever be allowed to get to the top of said system to "change it from within", that's just another lie perpetuated to maintain the status quo (as long as people believe that elections are the only way to change things, and keep trying that despite all evidence pointing to the contrary, those in power get to keep it).
If you genuinely care and want to know more, you could start here:
https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/the-anarchist-faq-editorial-collective-an-anarchist-faq-full (for some reason I can't link to specific sections of the document, it's a bit overwhelming, but looks like sections B.2, H1.5, H.5, and J.2 would be a good place to start, though it really is worth working your way through the entire thing)
Hear me out - butter beans with butter (or butter flavoured substitute) and teriyaki, maybe a splash of soy sauce or other umami. Heat till the butter melts, mix and cover the beans well, add to rice or have as its own thing. Sweat and savoury with an added richness, all in about 2 minutes. Nom.
Actually tinned beans (and other pulses!) + melty buttery-ness + flavouring is generally an easy to make winner. Black pepper and or garlic powder for something simple, add to those coriander paprika turmeric chilli for something a bit more interesting. Plop on a jacket potato or mix with rice and mince/strips/whatever meaty substitute for a full meal.
Tonight I'm having some in a curry (red kidney beans along with tinned corn, peas, and pineapple, with madras paste from a jar mixed with coconut milk, on rice with some chicken alternative).
I actually haven't had chilli for a long time, but now I know what ingredients to order for my next grocery delivery lol
Yeah, I can understand that, I often feel the same, but realistically, waiting for every selfish asshole to be impacted enough to care isn't going to work for us, because it won't only take absolute ages, but more importantly, the systems will always grant some people more privilege than others to get them to side with it (or at least not fight it), so even if the already fictional middle class completely collapsed, there will be a group to fill the gap (it also falls under the just world fallacy, where people get what they deserve, which simply isn't reality).
Which leads back to my earlier point - we have to abolish the system, rather than hope that it, and the individuals under its influences, change, because that isn't going to happen.
Whatever the case, and despite it often not feeling this way, you're not alone, in what you have to face nor in how it makes you feel. The key is finding those around you who can see and feel it too, and building solidarity and community with them, and from there, with others. They say "workers of the world unite" for good reason - only together are we strong enough to break free from our oppressors.
Used to be the case when buying in person, but we've evolved with the times and the darknet lol
Really does make a big difference for medical use to be able to consistently get the same strain and not just whatever your dealer has in that week.
No, continuing to consent to, participate, and put faith in the sham that is electoral politics is the compromise.
The fact that people see the impact of direct action, and can't resist the urge of their indoctrination to force it in to the box that is the constructs and systems that they're familiar, and therefore comfortable with, even in an expressly leftist community, is frustrating as hell.
Classism and ableism (and sexism and racism and queerphobia and so on) are all deliberate parts of the system, it's how hierarchy functions - to divide society and centralise the power in the hands of a few, while they pit the rest of us against each other so that we don't turn on them.
That doesn't excuse people who participate in it, of course, your frustration and anger are 100% valid, they're assholes and should be held accountable for their actions, but the problem is much much bigger than them personally, it is the systems that we live under and its trillion dollar propaganda machines (not only the news, but pretty much all main stream entertainment, not to mention the state and the departments under its control like the economy, health, and education), and without abolishing that, we will neve have an inclusive and supportive society, only the continued effects of constant division and hatred sown by those in power.
Aim your anger at them.
And until then, try your best to remove people who say shit like that from your life, or if you must, go for the minimal possible interaction. They're unlikely to change their ways or views until A. society stops validating them and or B. they are personally impact and only then finally get it and give a shit, at which point if they want to, they can apologise to you for being as wrong, self centred, and short sighted as they were, and you can then decide if you want to give them a second chance or not.
Edit to add because I'm still waking up and forgot to include, a couple of examples of how people who are in reality just as close to homelessness as those they berate are so easily made to betray their own interests:
The idea that one is simply a "temporarily embarrassed millionaire"
I couldn't help it 😊
(edit to clarify, just in case: couldn't help but describe them that way. I just realised how confusing that phrase might be in isolation to someone who isn't a native speaker, or maybe my stoned and tired brain is just overthinking it lol)
You can't fix something that is working exactly as intended, nor should you pin your hopes on any measure enacted by the capitalist state to save you from the harms of capitalism, because it never will.
Lmfao, imagine not only still genuinely believing that you can vote oligarchy, and the inevitable fascism it brings with it, away, but actually getting on your high horse and riding in to the sunset to die on that hill..
Thanks for the ear worm
(E: genuinely though, It's been so long since I've listened to it and I'd forgotten just how much I love this soundtrack!)
