I just found out the lady who cuts my dogs hair is a groomer. You just never know who you're dealing with I guess.
Their methodology is basically this :
- Find news articles about the company
- If it's a positive article about the company's environmental work, inclusion statements or supports any Biden policies then BAM woke.
- If it's an article about the company donations to election denying politicians, about the company being accused of racism or about Republican donations then it gets stamped non woke.
- Average the results and profit!
I'm not sure how many articles they "find" or how they decide which ones to include but this website is as hilarious as it is sad. Imagine being so afraid of the word "woke" that you feel the need curate a list of companies to avoid.
When you call someone it was normal for someone else to answer and you had to be careful because they could be listening to your call.
Why is no one asking why the most successful entertainer in the world right now is dating a middle aged football player whos success measured in US dollars is 1/30th of hers? By just watching his games she's made KC multiple times more than his entire net worth. Also, didn't he go on a reality dating show in front of the whole world to see? He's not high quality. She could go on to sell out literal football stadiums for years to come and he's already past the average age of retirement in the NFL. She must be gay. /S
A truck has to have a nose that looks like a big slab of concrete to oncoming traffic. If it doesn't men will be forced to wear dresses, sing show tunes while sitting to pee. Thems the rules.
If all it ever took was one bad president then democracy has already ended and it was always just a matter of time.
This reminds of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy when it describes a planet ruled by reptiles:
[It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see..." "You mean, it comes from a world of lizards?" "No," said Ford, who by this time was a little more rational and coherent than he had been, having finally had the coffee forced down him, "nothing so simple. Nothing anything like so straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford. "It is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards?" "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in.]
👆 This Douglas Adams bit is the exact situation we find ourselves in now.
Do not buy BS internet connected devices period. There was a time when internet connected devices did exactly they were supposed to do and nothing more. There is literally no reason why most of these devices can't act as their own server and keep your data local and private. Corporations have become far too greedy to trust their cloud won't sell you out in every way it can. The ONLY two reasons a manufacturer adds internet connectivity are:
-
To monitor and collect as much data as possible and/or:
-
To implement a subscription service for something that normally wouldn't require monthly payments.
Corporate closed clouds have proven time and time again that they can't be trusted.
American capitalism no longer innovates. It now only stifles competition through patent abuse, regulations that make market entry difficult to impossible and domination of market resources. If all of that fails then they buy the competition and increase prices before repeating the whole cycle all over again.
Remote workers can live in locations with cheaper rent. Blackstone has invested far too much money buying up overpriced housing in densely populated areas to allow that. A spread out population is bad for their bottom line.
The guy openly posted that the FBI wouldn't dare raid him because they'd get a 45 ACP in the face. I'm no law enforcement apologist but that kind of boast can put people on edge. Specific threats of violence should never be acceptable.
I found out about Lemmy BECAUSE of Sync. I'm a huge FOSS supporter but that doesn't mean I'll trash anything that isn't open source.
Much more importantly, I'd really like to see Lemmy succeed against data mining trash like Reddit. Let's not dissuade potential converts coming over from Reddit with this gatekeeping nonsense. These manipulative parasitic social media companies are the real enemy here. Sync is one guy making one app with a one time purchase. Everyone is still welcome to use open source apps, the website or any other means of accessing the community. Sync is not your enemy.
Hard agree. Online massive multi-player games have become gross money grabs with all of the worst modern BS like micro transactions, loot boxes etc. Maybe Sega will prove me wrong but I wouldn't bet on it.
