I ain’t so convinced to be honest, but I’m always keeping an eye on their next move.
Playstation 6 will really reveal a lot about their plans.
We might have a fully retrocompatible console with a (optional) disc drive.
We might also have a digital only console with subscriptions.
Ii it’s the later, I’ll be jumping to Linux gaming.
If they do this, I might leave Sony. But I don’t think they would such a thing except if they really remive every physical drive, which would also make me think about leaving.
Clearly the article is about game preservation. Could they do more? Of course but it’s already a start.
Let’s hope the PS6 lets you play games from every generation before.
For image backups I use Clonezilla.
It works well but I don’t know how easily you could take an image from one computer to a different one. I tried once and it didn’t work because of Legacy Bios issues..still I guess it works between two modern computers.
I’d love if something like this was implemented directly in a distribution for ease of use.
I might look into this too even if it ain’t bothering me too much.
What I would really want is some more trophies related to Sophy. Or a new career mode.
Because for now there is nothing really motivating me to play except grinding and improving my Nurburgring lap times.
I’d be happy to get a third Last Of Us, but not another Uncharted.
As much as I loved Nathan’s adventure, I feel like there’s nothing more to tell and I don’t want the quality to go down.
I’d be happy if it was a new franchise too, as Intergalactic isn’t making me dream for now and might never.
I have a Surface Go 1 and I’m really happy with it.
But, I have to admit it was tricky to boot Linux on it and the blutooth doesn’t always work. The cameras too, but I don’t care.
Still, it’s a great device that you can attach to a big screen to get the best of both worlds (easy to transport and useful at home).
And also how do you manage to play so much?
I can only play around 7 hours a week so I’m kind of avoiding long games.
What I mostly use is peertube, but it only works once you’ve found the creatirs you enjoy (Linux Experiment, Gardiner Bryant and Veronica Explains for me).

I’m a Playstation gamer looking into moving to Linux gaming as the next Playstation might not be able to play physical games.
Here are my 2 computers:
MacBook Pro 2012 (upgraded) with Fedora 41
Surface Go 1 with Fedora 41
I bought Frostpunk on Steam after checking on Proton DB that it would normally run on the MacBook as I knew the Surface Go would probably be way too weak.
According to Proton DB it’s a Gold game.
In the end, no matter what version of Proton I use, it doesn’t launch on the MacBook. I have a black screen, some icy sounds and then it crashes at best..
I then thought, let’s give it a try on the Surface Go and it launched immediately without any tinkering using Proton experimental.
But, the game crashes when the firat cinematic starts, probably because it’s loading too many assets for the Surface.
If anyone has an idea about what to try too many get it working on the MacBook, I would be thankful.
In the meantime, I would want to know, how do you know if a game is gonna run on your machine?
With the launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% provided by someone here, I managed to start playing and only noticed low fps and audio crackling. For now I also only tried it on Proton Experimental and 6.3-8 seemed to work better when I was just struggling to launch the game, so I’ll try to remember to update this post and Proton DB when I can get more time to play.

I'm struggling with two things on my Surface Go 1 with Fedora 41 on it.
I'm trying to get rid of the Surface Kernel I once installed. Apparently I should type sudo dnf remove kernel-surface but then the terminal tells me that there is no corresponding package. Still, when I type uname -a I can see that the kernel is 6.12.7-1.surface.fc41.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT. How can I get rid of it as it makes things tricky if I want to deploy my installation on another computer?
I'm looking for a PDF viewer which would allow me to go from one PDF file to another without going back to the file explorer. In a way, I'd want it to work a bit like an image viewer where you only have to click on an arrow to go to the next image. Is there such a program?

Yeah I guess so.
That’s why I’ll soon be getting a Steam Deck to sit alongside my Playstation.
It’s my first move towards Linux gaming.
