Maybe add a reference to [email protected] and [email protected] in the sidebar?

I guess those communities would be better for those

There might be others on [email protected]

On Lemmyverse you can set your home instance so that link open on it automatically

It's not all wrapped up in a complete package and definitely won't find equivalents for every feature, but there's some userscripts on [email protected]

(Full disclosure, I wrote a simple one to customise the community bar at the top and posted it there)

There's browser addons in the meantime. [email protected]

If it were to happen, it would be in [email protected]

There are already a few useful scripts there (including a very early LemmyTools). We'll get there

You mean, left reddit when shit hit the fan?

I'm one of them. It's going great here. Was just pointed to a new community for Lemmy addons that looks super helpful: [email protected]

I'm never going back. There's good interactions and engagement, and the content is growing every day.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

[email protected] | it's great for Free and Open Source software.

[email protected] | Great for those looking for Lemmy Plugins & Userscripts.

[email protected] | For all things PC and PC enthusiasts.

[email protected] | Today I Learned, but on Lemmy.

There are many others, a lot of the other comments have provided community searching tools, so I'll leave my contributions at these four.

Consider posting to [email protected] as well, which is a community dedicated to this.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Check [email protected] there's some good stuff there. Nothing to mlmym though I don't think.

There is this GUI app called lasim. Download it, run it, export the data to json. But, the instance has to be online in order to do this.

Lemmy could do with some form of user data download option so you can at least get a list of the communities you've subscribed to and the posts you've written and saved

That is something that is planned, just not being worked on currently. This thing was barely usable when the reddit thing happened, the platform was far from ready for the influx of users it received.

User migration could be made easier. At least being able to upload a list of communities to subscribe to.

That is also something that is planned, but not currently being worked on. Like migrating your whole profile, including posts, to another instance.

That being said, there is a tool that will export almost all (as far as I can tell, the profile pic is the only thing it doesn't export) of your settings and communities from your profile in a file and then you can import them on another account.

[email protected]

And the big one ... the fediverse doesn't enable you to own your data and profile in anyway unless you self host ... at some point down the road, it would be good if this could be addressed.

Also on the backburner. It's planned, just currently not a priority.

Hello! Thank you a lot for this ^^

I'll give it a try in a moment. But before I do, can I propose something to you?

I noticed that I'm able to insert an arbitrary html header into lemmy-ui as part of the environment variables. This could include a type of header linking to a javascript file of our choice which I could host myself so that there's no problems with same-origin policies.

I have already started working on a script that creates a "unblur nsfw content" setting in the user's settings and stores the value in the browser's localstorage. This is just an example of the type of customization that could be done.

If you ever come up with any interesting "user scripts" for the lemmy ui, I might be able to include them into the site itself. I'm using greasemonkey for the development since it loads automatically every time you open a page and you can also do url filtering, but the idea is to insert the end scripts into the page itself (after publishing them for peer review).

So, if you ever come up with an interesting script idea, feel free to let me know or send me the result. You might also be interested in this lemmy communty: [email protected]

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using an URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: [email protected]

[–] mershed_perderders 15 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

Here is the script. It's already written, you just need to run it:

https://lemm.ee/post/608605

Alternatively, there is a browser bookmark that kinda does the same thing: https://feddit.de/post/808717

you can find all sorts of things to customize lemmy over at [email protected] or https://sh.itjust.works/c/plugins (shameless plug)

Theres a userscript. Check at [email protected]

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

So far, there are some user-scripts or extensions to customize Lemmy like old.reddit.com or according to your needs. At the moment, I am using Lemmy_monkey. There is a community called "Lemmy Plugins & Userscripts" covering everything you need

Hello,

I'm currently on my journey of leaving reddit, but not having much success (not giving up either)

One of the things that it's hitting me the most is the fact that, well, Lemmy has different instances and not all communities I like are on the same one.

Despite me reading different beginners guide of how to lemmy on github (and them having example on such matter) I'm still not understanding it properly, so I thought of asking you guys some help!

For example, we are on lemmy.world, but, for example, [email protected] is on another instance, which is lemmy.zip. Is there any way for me to subscribe to it without making an account on that instance? Will I be able to comment/post there without an account on that specific instance, but by using my lemmy.world account?

Thanks in advance to every folk that will try to help me, much appreciated!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

In the meantime you can use custom themes with browser extensions like Stylus from [email protected] or injected scripts which try to recreate the old Reddit style.

Hallo,
