CPU Cooling problems: Just like 95C is normal for Ryzen, 100C is normal for Intel CPUs in many workloads. If you're worried about CPU temperatures, please look at reviews for the laptop or CPU cooler you're using.

Why are you buying a PC? what is your build? what is your budget?
Overall 14700k is very capable and might be comparable to 13900k in many (most?) cases.
But if you want more power, maybe you should get the new threadripper

14900k is only $50 more expensive than a 13900k (microcenter).
Where I live the 13 and 14 gens are the same price, so when considering a 13 gen check the price of the 14 gen model. The performance might not be that greater, but the power efficiency (and thus the ability to cool it) is much better.
14700k is fast enough for all workloads.
If you're purely gaming, there's no reason to even consider the 14700K unless it's bundled for a lower price than a 7800X3D setup.
If you actually do so much multithreaded work that you really notice the benefits of a 14700K over a 7800X3D, you might as well go to a 14900K, because every minute saved helps.

I do encoding, photo editing and sometimes while I am streaming Netflix and playing a GAME - roflmao - ADHD what can I say, focusing on any one thing is pretty tough for me.
I have a 13900K.
My wife and son, however just do streaming video and gaming so THEY are BOTH getting 7800X3D's (as a matter of fact my wife started putting hers together today with the help of another son :-)
The 14700K is also quite capable of performing the Encoding, Streaming a video, and playing a game at the same time tasks - it's just that the 14900K will enable more FPS in the game for example, or that encode will take 45 minutes instead of an hour for example.
If you have the moola and need the fastest multi tasking CPU because of your average daily workload then buy the 14900K.
If you have the moola for a 14900K but your average workload will be playing games and streaming videos then get the 14700K and use that savings, as someone else said, for a better video card :-)
Another option: If you're a 3D artist, just go 14700k and add the extra budget to the gpu. If ultra budget, Even a 13700 non k will do the task for 25% slower than 13900k in multithreaded. So it won't be as slow when you're actually working as not all cores are utilized. Pair it with a b760. Add the budget to ram and go 64gb.
Would more than double the multicore horsepower [and therefore potentially vastly better maintained performance in games long term], better 1% low scores, and better performance in general if properly tuned/and overclocked not count as "reasons to consider"?

Best answer ! Second this champ here. If you need the time go for the i9 , only gaming ? X3D chip. If it’s a drop in upgrade from a lower end chip than yea go for i7 or i9
