- Nightwing
- Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong
- Batman: Off-World (quite curious about this one)
Comic Books
A place to discuss comic books of all types, from old to new, Big 2 to indie, and everything in between.
Floppies, graphic novels, compilations, omnibusses (omnibusi?) are all fair game.
There is only one rule:*
Comic Books is a no judgement zone.
You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.
If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.
* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(
I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.

For other cinematic content, hit up Movies! Aquaman is coming soon, followed by the big reboot!
And don't forget Movies and TV over at lemm.ee! A good place for discussing Marvel, DC and other film and television properties!

Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay? Becoming Superman? John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood? That's the place!
I have to admit being curious too... Superman Lost now Batman Off-World? 🤔
I picked this one up myself for an odd turn of events! I usually don't do superheroes but "space" and I really liked the colors on the cover/flipthrough. I liked this one though, and it led me to download Batman City of Madness, and now I guess I'm going down the ~~rabbit hole~~ bat cave of "well maybe I like weird Batman Minis and this Batman First Knights looks interesting."
Good news too because I was a little underwhelmed by Holy Roller, so loving the Bat was a welcomed twist.
Light one for me:
FTWOMT: The Alternates #3 - Patton Oswalt's follow up to Minor Threats, great so far, world feels really lived in. This guy actually makes me like reading a superhero comic which is a tough sell for me.
Holy Roller #1 - Rick Remender and Andy Samberg? Sure why not.
Honorable mention to Faceless and the Family. I already have the nonfoil so I'm not grabbing this but it's pretty good, weird art.
I keep forgetting about the Alternates. IIRC I did get #1.
I love Patton Oswalt's comedy so I subscribed to it at my shop immediately lol. Which I also just did with Inebrio because of drinky crow. I called the shop haha.
Thanks for this post and community!
Stuff I'll be looking at:
BRZRKR Fallen Empire #1 - A new one shot!
Cyberpunk 2077 XOXO #2 - These Cyberpunk minis are actually better than the game.
Grendel Devil By The Deed Master’s Edition HC - See my separate post on this.
https://lemmy.world/post/8464764
Hawkgirl #5 - Almost the end...
Holy Roller #1 - I was ready to skip right over this, then I saw the cover by J.H. Williams III... who is always worth a closer look. Written by Andy Samberg? A Jewish superhero who smashes Nazis with a bowling ball? (sigh - here's my money)
Inebrio Horsefeathers In Scamper Juice #1 - Huh, I thought Bad Idea was done... guess not!
Jay Garrick The Flash #2 - I'm just a sucker for Justice Society Of America #7 - anything JSA related...
Moon Knight City Of The Dead #5 - Final issue! Weird reading a comic sequel to a Disney+ show, but there you go!
Nightwing #108 - Continuing the solid run ever since the intro of Bitewing!
Somna #1 - I just pre-emptively signed up for everything from DSTLRY after reading the samples of all their titles. Should be good!
Superman #8 - Loving all the Supes books for a few issues now.
Titans #5 - Soon to be the only Titans book left! Hope they picked the right one!
Wonder Woman #3 - I almost slept on this, solid read. The US has criminalized Amazons.
Fall of X:
Immortal X-Men #17 - TBH - I kinda forgot this was still going.
I stopped pulling Moon Knight: City of the Dead after issue #2. It just didn’t grab me. Do you think the series ended well?
I won't know until I pick it up this week... we'll see!
Looks like we're both picking up Holy Roller. What's up with this Inebrio Horsefeathers? Sounds interesting.
No idea. LOL. Bad Idea is an interesting publisher, all physical, no digital. Little promotion, stuff will just... appear!
I told my local comic shop I want everything they do, very idiosyncratic stuff. Also all creator owned.

Artist is Tony Millionaire who famously created Drinky Crow:

Man I had the best luck tracking down that issue of Inebrio lmao. My usual shop didn't get any, the second shop I tried thought I was prank calling them because "Inebrio Horsefeathees in scamper juice" does sound fake, admittedly, and the third shop had one, iirc only recieved one, but they saved it for me! And now I have to go back on sunday to see about subscribing to a publisher lol. My typical store does not like dealing with Bad Idea, they said it was "a Bad Idea" lmao.
Oh, and happy Thanksgiving dude! Hope it's a good one!
Well, the name is a play on Horatio Hornblower, which also sounds made up. :)

Bad Idea is kind of a weird publisher. For example, if they do a 4 issue series, you have to pay for the whole thing up front, sight unseen.
I can see why some stores won't deal with that.
Lol yeah it does, but I've heard of that character before and somehow it still seems less preposterous than "Inebrio Horsefeathers" haha.
Yeah the store owner was mentioning that. I probably wouldn't mind paying for it up front myself so long as it isn't constant and is only like 4-6 issues, more than that is a tough ask though. He was also saying something about having to sell out everything since they don't work like normal publishers, idk exactly.
Hopefully the store that is already "approved" by Bad Idea will let me subscribe to their stuff though, I figure if I don't like it I can always sell the series later, even if I lose a few bucks on the deal, at $20 for 4 I won't lose that much. Also I like weird shit like this, and whatever The Destroyer is looks interesting, so I think I'll like most of their stuff.
DSTLRY at least did a sample book called "The Devil's Cut" which had a couple pages from each of their books so you could decide what to get. I love anthology stuff so I grabbed that and just added on everything else.

Since then, they published 2 books... Gone and now Somna.

Thanks, I'll have to keep an eye out for their stuff! I think my usual does carry them.
Yeah i saw that was coming out next month while looking for info on inebrio yesterday. It looks interesting, I'll have to reserve it!
DRINKY CROW!? SOLD! Thanks for pointing it out, I would have missed this!
