Meta is now allowing Facebook and Instagram to run political advertising saying the 2020 election was rigged.

The policy was reportedly introduced quietly in 2022 after the US midterm primary elections, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the decision. The previous policy prevented Republican candidates from running ads arguing during that campaign that the 2020 election, which Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden, was stolen.

Meta will now allow political advertisers to say past elections were “rigged” or “stolen”, although it still prevents them from questioning whether ongoing or future elections are legitimate.

Other social media platforms have been making changes to their policies ahead of the 2024 presidential election, for which online messaging is expected to be fiercely contested.

In August, X (formerly known as Twitter) said it would reverse its ban on political ads, originally instituted in 2019.

Thanks, Mark! Can I also place ads claiming the 2016 election was rigged?

The sad thing is that was something Trump actually claimed at the time because he lost the popular vote.

It's also sad because Clinton voters still steadfastly refuse to admit she 1. promoted Donald Trump in a "pied piper" strategy because she was sure he would be easy to beat because he was a "nutjob" and they wanted to show off how Republicans were nutjobs 2. she didn't do any campaigning in important swing states (ignoring the advice of even her own husband to do so) and 3. she technically won the election, just not the part that mattered legally, and finally 4. she was running the same year as Jeb Bush and people were tired of both Clintons and Bushes in the White House, and Trump tapped into that real social frustration with political dynasties.

But nooooo, it's all those Bernie Bros fault! What a crock of shit.

Everyone knows those four things are true.

Republicans do not even know what "democracy" means. Hillary type Democrats think Bernie is bad.

Never assume people understand anything. ESPECIALLY the obvious things.

Maybe we can finally get some love for that stolen 2004 election? You know the one that just so happened to involve votes in Ohio being tallied on the same Smartech servers as all those millions of "missing" emails from the Bush administration and that Bush defeated Kerry despite exit polling giving the state to Kerry? Nevermind that Smartech was owned and operated by openly Republican ownership and had close ties to the Republican National Committee.

Every Republican accusation is a confession.

I'd rather something that damages and hurts Mark personally.

Oh, Hi Mark.

Sounds like reckless disregard for the truth to me.

Technically it is true. Counties are so gerrymandered to hell, there is no way the GOP got as many seats as it had.
