Ks chips are the Nvidia version of CPUs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Should have done as Haswell and it would probably have been accepted more for what it actually is...4770K > 4790K etc 13700K = 13750K etc? Small bump in frequency.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Blablabla. Usually more than one a year, we have the fastest CPU come out. How much faster is this going to be? 3 %?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And it will draw 20 gigawatts. Next.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Inappropriate, disparaging, or otherwise rude comment. Removed.

I can run my 14900k 6.2 all cores under 80c

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

...said no one ever

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Goodness. Soo get this: good 13900K CPUs get up binned to 13900KS CPUs, the best of which have recently turned into 14900K CPUs, making the latest flagship an up-bin of an up-bin. And all you're paying for with each up-bin is 100-200MHz at similar voltages, no guarantee of IMC which is still all over the place and for all you know, an i5 may run DDR5 better than your up-binned up-bin. And now you're telling me there's even more up-binning to the 14900KS?? Making this, what? An up-bin, of an up-bin, of an up-bin, of an up-bin?? Amazing!!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yes Gelsinger personally went to the process lab and licked these 14900ks before telling them to pack it up.

It's got the best up-bin.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You're not wrong, but there is a significant price consideration. The 14900K is binned about the same as the 13900KS (6 GHz VID < 1.5v), but costs at least $100 less. Some people claim the IMC is better on the 13900KS, but don't think that can be answered at the moment.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

And then now they’ll claim “and we kept the same socket for the 13th and 14th gen” when it’s really the same generation.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Intel Ultra+: the Refresh² edition

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I am so disappointed. Why only laptop 14th gen gets the meteor lake???

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Multi-chip on the same substrate has been way more complicated than anyone expected, right now it's only viable for very high margin projects.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Impressive, very based.

Let's check the power consumption and temperatures. 🗿

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Going to need a separate power supply 🤣

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What's up with comments on recent post? So many trolls coming from other sub which is not member of this sub. I feel like they are still salty about jayz posts about switching to Intel. Very typical reddit stupid circlejerk.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

interesting that intel posters are likely to post in hardware subs in general including AMD, whereas both AMD and Nvidia users are significantly more likely to post here compared to other hardware subs.

don't really understand their fascination with spamming this sub in particular. I suppose this explains how this sub went from barely any posts weekly to pretty consistent posts daily and similar ragebait as the AMD and Nvidia subs.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Stop fanning the flames?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It'll still lose to 7800x3d in gaming.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

At stock, 7800X3D and 13900/14900 are very close except for some games where 3D cache gives a huge advantage. But the Intel systems have more untapped potential for expert users.

I just got a 7950X3D. Been very satisfied with it so far but it’s not very overclockable even tho temps are well controlled in my system. On an Intel system, performance could be much better than stock as long as the heat is under control. Memory also isn’t very tweakable on AM5 so far. Most AM5 systems are gonna be around 6000 for memory.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Depends if you get a decent bin. Most people won't.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

My 14900k runs at 6.2 already with no effort. It's done 6.2 on four cores and 6.1 on the other four.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hello mate, what settings did you have to change in your bios? I bought the same CPU. I'm waiting to buy the motherboard. It's not in stock yet. (Asus Maximus z790 Dark Hero) And the only thing I know is we should increase the volt and try to increase the frequencies. But I'm also reading that instead of increasing the voltage, we should actually decrease it (undervolting) and I don't understand how we can then overclock the CPU by undervolting and having a stable system.

What are you using to cool it?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Honestly nailed 6.1 on 4 cores with 13900ks don’t think I’ll need another replica of cpu

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wonder if we will see one day such CPUs for those with lot of money only. I am not thinking of the price for the CPU but the price for the required watercooling system you need with watertanks and cabling. I own a i9-12900ks and use a corsair icue h170i elite lcd 420mm but I feel even that one might have trouble removing the heat from it at peak...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Those top end Intel CPUs are already kinda made for high end water cooling systems. You can’t really make the most of them without being able to keep them cool enough to not throttle. No AIO is good enough if you really want to push the 14900 to its limits.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We in lake cpu, can't wait for ocean, that shit gonna go real fast swooshily like

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You forgot the "currently" pal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

ah yes boost clock pr strikes again

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I was able to overclock my 13900K to 6.2 and it was stable

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Huh.... Well if thats what they need to do get some revenue, I guess I understand, but I wont be buying it. I really thought this node was already tapped out....

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

In frequency only. 7950x3d will still beat it at most things

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's amazing to see how powerful a Jay Z endorsement is for Intel. All my gaming buddies ridiculed me for building a 13900k and now that Jay is switching to Intel, they wanna know "How's that Intel working and does it BSOD"? 😮‍💨

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

yeah right haha

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

6.2ghz for 0.1 seconds at 110 degrees @ 500watts, the intel way! Will stick to my 7950x3D

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, you stick to your overpriced marketing chip which cripples itself under gaming while running hotter at a lower power draw...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

overpriced

Ye, flagship CPUs are always over priced

marketing chip

How? Intel is the one with the mindshare with non-tech inclined people. The amount of mindshare they have for their poor record over the past couple years in client is really impressive.

which cripples itself under gaming

3D cache with Zen 4 is just way more impressive than the bloated, power hungry RPC core. And more performant to boot.

while running hotter at a lower power draw...

No one cares about that lmao

Also sorry you had to get a 3435x. That mesh must suck lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Binned the binned chips lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Even better, binned the binned chips that were already binned lmao

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What are the temps gonna be tho?

14900K already runs super hot

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Great news! How much power does it need?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Is it faster than my 6700k though?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Is it faster than my 6700k though?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What's the difference between KS and K?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

better binning resulting in slightly higher frequency stock

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

why so many AMD clowns in here deviating off topic again..

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Nah, bullying the 14900ks is valid
