Your daily reminder that the main cause of homelessness is housing affordability. It is not inevitable. It’s a choice we as a society make.

Canada has one of the highest homelessness rates in the developed world, but it’s not like Canadians have more mental illness, use more drugs, or have less work ethic than Americans or French people.

I was forced to move 3 years ago. My rent tripled.

3 working adults all contributing and we're still struggling.

If I was alone I'd have shot myself by now. There's still days...

Hey pal. I see you. I feel your struggle. You aren’t alone. Need to chat?

Appreciate the offer. I've got support; it's the only reason I keep fighting.

Stay strong m8.

Glad to hear it. Every day is a victory!

Every day is a victory!

Thank you, I needed to hear that. Intellectually I know that this too shall pass, but some days it is easy to lose sight of this fundamental truth and despair.

Don't worry things won't change much yet ... people can still eat

Once people become so poor they can't eat ... that's when big problems will start to occur

People can survive and put up without shelter ... but if history has taught us anything, people will revolt if they can't eat any more

Until grocery prices get too hi….uhhhhh almost there too!

That was just a short-lived aberration due to the conflict in Ukraine, temporary fertilizer supply issues, and a weather event causing large crop loss. The latter two are dealt with and the former isn't the worry we thought it was. Farmers are already well on the other side of high prices, and the rest of the supply chain is quickly catching up.

What is concerning is how the grocers have petitioned the government to implement a price freeze. They claim it is stop prices from going higher, but we all know it is to ensure the prices don't go lower amid that crashing food supply chain.

As Lenin put it, every society is three meals away from chaos.

Trouble is that a revolt is likely to cause stress, which is not good for the meat. You need to act while they are still clam and happy.

clam and happy

So: roast or boil them while they’re still in their shell. Got it!
