Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted, clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
    • If you feel strongly that you want politics back, please volunteer as a mod.
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Now this is a truly high quality showerthought. I think we're finally getting somewhere with this whole Lemmy thing.

Let's be frank, how many bong rips do you have before coming to this conclusion?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago

They are basically made of bong water now

Well, women are born with all the eggs they will develop over the course of their entire life, so in a sense a baby is made up of whatever their maternal grandma was eating during their pregnancy

Hopefully not soft ones though!

I was born with Brie for brain.

Mom's got the eggs and the milk. Shes an omelet.

This is starting to get complex

This always trips me out so much.... Things that you do while pregnant directly impact your maternal grandchildren because they are INSIDE you

A 99 lb kid eats a pound of Nachos, becoming 1% Nacho.

Milk is around 88% water, btw.

Oh it goes deeper than this -

Baby's are made of materials floating around in their gestational parent's blood. And guess what breastmilk is made of..... It's made of blood. Your body literally takes your blood and turns it into milk.

So until they start eating food, a breastfed baby is made entirely of their mother's blood plus a single sperm.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

By that logic, we're all made of blood, even in adulthood, because our cells get everything they need from blood.

Most cats are made of water and cat food

Did someone say cheese?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

i don't think you understand what "you are what you eat" actually meant

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

*processed cheese...

This one reminds me of:

  • Gummy bears contain gelatin
  • In the USA at least, gelatin is derived from bones
  • Technically, gummy bears are not boneless

I'm no doctor but that sounds medically accurate.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

This is the most shower thought ever thought

I'm gonna chop my baby, and sell to supermarkets!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Does that mean vegans aren’t made of meat, but of vegetables?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They are sentient vegetables?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

Just like in veggie tales
