Hoping to see him face actual consequences for once in his life. What he did cannot be normalized by either side of the house.

What’s really terrifying is that his followers can’t possibly fathom that a guy with a 50 year history of doing shady stuff, is in fact, still continuing to do shady stuff.

Agreed, justice should be apolitical.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

It's not even the same for the rich vs poor. Let alone politics.

I too want some long overdue schadenfreude but I am just going to hold my breath for the next 24 hours. At this point, it mostly the most rabid followers who still back him - The type who are most likely to start something.

It’s gonna be an uphill battle with him getting the same judge who already had to be chastised for her meddling in the investigation.

The problem is - they’ll file tons of motions and injunctions to try to delay this as long as possible.

I have little hope that he will. They call him teflon Don for a reason.

I hope tomorrow doesn't go from protest to riot. I feel like the far-right groups are so full of feds after Jan 6th that anything too coordinated will be difficult.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’m going to have the news on all day tomorrow. I was watching on J6 and I’ll watch tomorrow.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago

I'm not going to be able to watch, just check my phone occasionally. Hopefully someone will post live updates on the fediverse. Breaking news from people on the scene was one of the things I liked searching reddit for.

Are they going to perp walk him up the courthouse steps?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I am doubtful. They are being highly coordinated in the way they are approaching this case not to give him free campaign material.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

interesting perspective, I hadn't thought about the campaign angle.. I agree though, they won't perp walk him.

But will we get mug shots this time?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

No, the justification is that everyone already knows what he looks like.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Most likely. That's what happened last time when he was indicted in NY, and that's what will happen next time when he gets indicted in Georgia.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

In New York they snuck him in through a back door. There was no perp walk up the courthouse steps.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You're right, English is not my first language, so I thought "perp walk" was when the media reported on every step of the orange man. Once I translated and understood the meaning, I had to delete my comment out of embarrassment

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Don't be embarrassed, English is an insane language.

I will just pour some of this inflammable liquid onto this flammable liquid that caught fire...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

I dunno., call me naive but I think NY is a different animal than the fed gov - I think he feds will be a little more professional/ respectful. But hey, I could be wrong!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I read he’ll enter from an underground garage so we won’t see much of anything.

For the rest of his life hopefully

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago (4 children)

why do they have this stupid thing where you can't have phones / cameras / etc in the courtroom? it's 2023, give us streams. it's public record isn't it?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

It tends to turn court rooms into drama rooms. Everybody starts performing instead of acting serious. The OJ trial is a great example of how damaging cameras can be. Whether you agree with this or not, this is generally the reason why.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Keep in mind any and all of that he would just use to get donations and campaign ads. I think that's the main reason he hasn't gotten the perp walk with handcuffs, he wants it!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

For many reasons, some are already obsolete. For more details, I recommend this article from mtsu.

Well I can think of at least one case in the past few years where courtroom recordings turned the whole trial into a media fiasco and a witch hunt. Maybe it's justified in some cases, but on the whole I personally think it's unhealthy for justice.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Anxious to see the results of all this.

Weird thought: what if no judge agreed to represent him? At first this idea sounds funny - but it could also be a tactic to help stifle proceedings and the logistics of law.
