The first Metal Slug is my fifth favorite game of all time. 2 also kicks ass, and XX is good. 3 is too bloated, but it is (probably) the only piece of Japanese media that makes fun of veterans of Imperial Japan!: https://youtu.be/gJwstDKyjpA?si=kmJ3FUNiKePDqlkV&t=216 Marco Rossi would be my husbando, for it would not be that all soldiers are bastards...

Very fun! I think I played Metal Slug 3 on the xbox arcade back in the day?

I've never once actually played it but I've looked at its sprites and pixel art and have always really liked them.

Very fun! I had it for the playstation and it was a challenge but I managed to beat it back in the day. More rewarding to just grab mame and cheese your way through it with unlimited continues though.

Love it, I have all of them

Even the one on NeoGeo Pocket

It’s where I learned if you eat a bunch of bananas, a whole cabbage, a live fish, whole roast turkey, bunch of carrots, loaf of bread and barrel of apples while on patrol you’ll get morbidly obese and your gun will shoot fat bullets too.

Uh oh, big!

It's pog, and many people are saying this, how many games can you blow away a outhouse and the pixelated guy inside falls in the ordure pit (with the little flush string)? Not many!

The zombie/alien meteor level from 3 hit the absolute perfect blend of camp and horror for my child brain, and then hit it with some sick art that would go on to haunt me and define my aesthetics forever

Fun, but I've only played a few. Good simple fun.

Excellent, especially 2 and 3. Run 'n gun peaked with Metal Slug 3.

If I fire up my MiSTer FPGA project box and I have no idea what to play, Metal Slug is a go-to. If you can find a nerd to play with you, it's an even better experience.

Pretty good port of MS1 on the Saturn, too. But needed a 4MB ram cart if I recall correctly.

juicy as hell, check em out if you want to see the kind of extra touches and flourishes that make a game feel good
