A California federal judge said Wednesday that it was fair for Meta Platforms to take copyrighted material to train its large language models called Llama, rejecting the arguments from a group of bestselling authors who alleged the tech giant infringed their works by using them without permission and sometimes obtaining them through pirating sites.
