That reckless driving charge should be attempted murder.

Instead, he's given a medal and a seat on Trump's cabinet.

These attacks need to be treated as terrorism, in addition to attempted murder.

On a more positive note, the police who provided security for today's rally in Madison physically blocked the approaches with police vehicles. That needs to become standard practice.

This is exactly why red states have laws defending the driver in such circumstances. Wish I were kidding.

I’d disagree solely on the basis that I believe terrorism charges would elevated it to federal crimes which could then give Donnie a pardon mechanism. Let’s leave them as State crimes and pile on as many as possible.

I hadn't thought about that angle, but you are certainly right!

I'm surprised this only happened at one location, if I'm being honest.

It didn't. There were others.

I read another anecdote of someone swerving to the sidewalk, but I don't know if anyone physically needed to move out if the way, or if it was some stupid motherfucker flexing his truck nuts. Either way, fuck em.

Motorcyclists in Seattle were doing traffic control by blocking necessary lanes with their motorcycles. I wonder if that would have helped in this situation.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

It definitely would have.

We can't rely on the city to implement proper protective measures.

And that is why I went armed.

Serious question: This car starts driving at you and the driver appears to have bad intentions. There are a bunch of people around. What's your plan?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

What would that change?

Edit: why the downvotes? This is a legitimate question for this specific case/ threat model.

I hope there won't copycats, but I expect to be disappointed

Seeing as this was in front of Walmart, I'm inclined to believe this might have been an impatient Walmart customer trying to park or leave and tried driving his way through a throng of people returning to their cars in the parking lot.
