Alan Turing. Brilliant mind, one of the fathers of modern computing, helped crack nazi codes during WWII. Was then prosecuted for homosexual acts, subjected to chemical castration, and died in a manner consistent with suicide :(

She ripped up a picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live and got her career canceled for it.

A decade or so later it turned out that the Catholic Church was covering up absurd amounts of child sexual abuse and pedophilia.

Her protest was over abortion rights and the Irish Laundry system as I recall.

At the time, O’Connor, now 54, said she had torn up the photo to protest sexual abuse of children by the Catholic Church. However, she recently revealed that the story goes much deeper.

“My intention had always been to destroy my mother’s photo of the pope,” she writes. “It represented lies and liars and abuse. The type of people who kept these things were devils like my mother.”

The McDonald's Hot Coffee Lady.

She got severely burned on her genitalia, to the point where her skin was fused to itself, and underwent massive amounts of pain and surgery over several months, and the whole time all she wanted was money to cover her medical bills from their coffee that was served far too hot for human safety.

Rather than settle a valid claim, they forced her to go and make a lawsuit, and then the jury handed out a nuclear verdict.

Because it was such a large amount of money, every single half-baked piece of shit comedian that had an opportunity to complain and make jokes about it made fun of her for fucking decades.

Even today, what is it, like 25 years later, 30 years later, people will mention McDonald's hot coffee as the punchline to a shitty ass joke at her expense.

Palestine, Sudan, and everyone else deemed less worthy of life by the greater world.

Most of the global south :) they are still being brutally exploited to this day (neo-colonialism,genocide,imperialism through brutal dictators that were installed to serve interests of other nations) and sadly, most people to this day unapologetically refuse to acknowledge / even support it.

Its great that Palestine has been a somewhat notable exception and now is gaining much more support. Can't say the same for Sudan.

Every woman Chris Brown ever dated because he should have been totally condemned and have lost his career

A coworker of mine and I overheard a Chris Brown song playing on the plant-wide music system. I was like Yeah, fuck him and his abusive ass, to which my coworker responded What are you talking about? I brought up the Rihanna case, and he was like Well, she was hitting him, is he not allowed to defend himself?? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. He thinks how Chris Brown brutalized her was justified. Seriously, he was defending a serial abuser. I didn’t let that go, and we got into a debate as to how poor Breezy has been villainized by women everywhere for defending himself.

Disgusting.

Oh god that's bad. Just be aware sometimes IME men that defend abusers are abusers.
