Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Can they really be called spaceships if they never get to space?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

They get to space, they just don’t stay in space. Like every vehicle meant to be crewed by humans.

[–] [email protected] 111 points 1 week ago (13 children)

Even worse - he named his space vessels 'Starship' - implying that they have the ability to travel between stars.

They will study this man's narcissism in future history classes alongside Trump. The era of the ego.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 week ago

Even worse worse, he named prior projects after Culture ship names. Whose author despised him.

[–] iAmTheTot 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean by that definition, Voyager is a starship, eventually.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Voyager I and II are probes, not ships.

[–] iAmTheTot 7 points 1 week ago (4 children)

A ship can transport people or goods, and I argue that data is a type of good.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

Friendship transports a type of good.

Technically they’re fireworks.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Steamships don't sail on steam, but they're called steamships anyway because they have steam in them. Elon Musk's spaceships don't use up every bit of volume contained within them, therefore they contain space.

The last one got into space ...and then caught on fire.

[–] ironhydroxide 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Which is impressive, as fire usually needs excess oxygen available.

"Do you think that foreign students might have materially contributed to the creation of your spaceships?"

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 week ago (8 children)

If this isn't the kind of stuff you're asking. You're doing it wrong.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago

The press is very deeply beholden to wealth.

You know that you're in the right when you're ashamed to share your opinion publicly.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

He’s not ashamed, he’s scared of Trump.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 week ago

You're not wrong but we've already had enough fascists not feeling ashamed to air heinous ideas publicly in the US. Shame isn't a good, universal metric because some people don't feel it and will weaponize that.

“Free speech absolutist”

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 week ago (4 children)

To be fair, free speech should include the freedom not to speak.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

I plead the fifth.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago

Musk isn't playing fair though.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago

He should fucking exercise it more

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago

I agree he doesn't have to answer, but if you're supposed to be REALLY into free speech which largely means freedom of the press, you probably wouldn't be into giving the press huge stipulations on what questions they are allowed to ask or not.

in that case: what happened to your face? Did you fall and hit your head on one of your spaceships?

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If a billionaire you know is suffering from mysterious falls, it's important to let someone know so they can laugh at them too

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

Or lead him to an open window...

FYI, this is the actual transcript, not a meme.

No. No, no, no. Under no circumstances should anyone fuck Elon Musk. I cannot emphasize this enough. Elon Musk should be left alone to go fuck himself.

You can have any color you want as long as it is black.

They're correct. But neither is he a space or engineering expert, so maybe we should just ignore his opinions on those things entirely as well.

Nazi coward gonna Nazi cower.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

This was somewhat gutsy of the reporter to ask, but when Elmo dodged like that he should have said, "Well I guess that's the interview over. We'll just air this clip and get about 10 million views. Should pay for our time here nicely." And then left the Nazi prick to sit and stew in his own shit.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

Uhoh someliar hates being fact checked

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)
