At least it’s a public benefit company. That’s very different than Twitter, Facebook, etc.
For now….
I have no idea what this means.
OP thinks that BlueSky will eventually get shitty and burn its users.
"Eventually get shitty" we're already there, have been since the beginning (of bluesky).
What's shitty about it?
Ah OK. I couldn't remember who the bug was supposed to represent.
If you are old enough you remember that the these mainstream social networks come and go. OP could have started with Myspace. I remember when fb was new around 2010 it looked somethinng interesting.
This post may be related to this recent article: https://www.wired.com/story/big-interview-jay-graber-bluesky/

I think they keep burning themselves on an electric stove top? No clue here either.
They keep getting burned by centralized social media and are poised to do so again with bluesky.
Oh ok it’s pretty obvious when you read it like that thank you.
I don’t care enough about my Bluesky account to be upset when I eventually delete it.
To be fair, fb always sucked, just s bit less.
IMO, Facebook was pretty great if you were a thirsty college student when it first launched.
But once that initial cohort of users started getting married, posting baby pictures, and luring grandparents to the platform, everything started getting pretty bad.
Too many nudes when i tried, i couldn't affordto use at the work, where's, basically, the place i spend most of my day in...
Why bother?
We rockin out here on the Threadiverse just fine.
Ew. Thread / Meta = 💩
Actually, the people who built the backbone of the Fediverse have been using the term prior to Meta's attempt to hijack it, which as expected, failed hilariously:-P.
So now the question follows: do we allow them to define what we call ourselves, especially since they died?
I made a recent poll about use of the term as a post flair (btw PieFed has both polls and post flairs, along with many other features that Lemmy lacks), which you can participate belatedly in via a comment in the Lemmy version.
Most people both hate Threadiverse yet also demand to use it over any other term, due to us owning it before fucking Meta fucking tried to fucking steal it and thereby fucking ruin it, I guess out of stubbornness to not let them? :-D
I learned that I need to truly understand something to be able to trust it. I had to learn the same lesson with Proton.
