The funniest part of this is it's Solid JJ saying this. I bet we're going to see a skit about this now.

I love Solid JJ with all my lil gay heart.

The Batman one looks awful. How did anyone approve this?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

We're all talking about it aren't we?

Deconstruct everything people once liked!

For anyone interested, the symbol is metal, and pops off to become an axe that he uses to dismember people. (But not kill them!)

There's also a section of the comic showing him in older costumes that are more traditional but with things like the og comics outfit and fake fangs that paralyzed thugs.

The actual story is pretty neat. But yeah, that symbol needs to never be used again.

(Also his ears can rotate forward and stab people in the eyes. (But not kill them!))

When you say it pops off and becomes an axe... is this like a wafer-thin flexible piece of metal attached to his chest that stiffens and becomes an axe-shaped blade, or has he got a big heavy axe head attached to his chest all the time?

Because if it's the latter, that's just a bit silly, but if it's the former, that doesn't even make a lick of goddamn sense. An axe is useful because of all the weight in the head. Anything without that weight would just be a huge pizza slicer.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

They already did that in The Batman though.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 week ago

That makes even less sense, since the original logo was very axe shaped, but this one just looks like a rectangle.

The axe thing could legit be cool, if the logo didn't look like dog shit to accommodate it

Just take the original logo and add some edges to the wings. Am I dumb, or does this look infinitely better than that stupid spiky rectangle? I'm sure someone else can do it better job, I did the best I could on my phone

Here's the one from TAS (1992):

Stick a handle on there, you're done.

All I can see in your picture is a vampire mouth.

Still better than the brick.

who is this batman? Jean Paul? Damien Wayne?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

He's nobody. He just some kid that had his father murdered while at a zoo. He's dirt poor. Still Bruce Wayne tho. Joker is the mega billionaire, but he's only teased. Black Mask is the villian .

He's a working man batman. It's actually a good take on the characters. But everything has to be absolute so it veers into 90's extreme too much.

right, but it seems like they have some specific "edgy side universe" instead of this being the newest reboot of batman.

great I still have to double check what happened to Damien and Nightwing, and who the current batman is and how/why. Fucking DC reboots man. Just go bankrupt already or keep the canon canon.

Or , trap the characters in a timeframe (eg, 50s-80s) and have everything be a side story. 2026's batman series takes place in 1969 with silver age batman, 2027's batman series takes place in the 80s, etc etc.

EDIT : oh fuck it. I have no idea what the fuck happened with Damien, nor bruce. I tried to read wikipedia, and ran up dry. I'll read it if someone explains it, but I'm not researching it anymore.

The Absolute series is a different continuation, don't worry. Pretty much DCs answer to Marvels Ultimate line.

The Absolute comics are reimaginings of the characters that make some big changes to them and the worlds they're in. This isn't like, THE Batman, this version is an engineer rather than a billionaire and his mum is alive. It's alright, but Martian Manhunter, The Flash and Green Lantern are all more interesting to me than the trinity so far.

Wonder Woman is pretty cool though, she fights demons with a huge sword and has a mechanical arm, it was a big Berserk reference.

So Batman is Brick Frog now?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Yes, and he has two powers: brick-throwing and frog-being.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The batman logo is shite and superman looks like he fused with the joker, wtf is going on??

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

Supes got me fucked up, I thought his arm was coming out of his chest at first and it was a picture of Joker just kali mah'ing the fuck out of Clark

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

Batman looks wild yo dude looks like buff David Byrne in the big suit dude looks like a Saturday morning cartoon anthropomorphic cow dude looks like a batman balloon animal with a slowly deflating head

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

To be fair bricks would be much more effective that the flimsy shuriken used by batman until now.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Batman still dropping off the tied up criminals, but with big ass bruises (and probably dead) instead of thin cuts.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

I didn't think the logo would get any thiccer than The Dark Knight Returns

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Is Supes a fucking druid now?

[–] mtpender 4 points 1 week ago

Batman: "Woe, brick be upon ye."

[–] licheas 4 points 1 week ago

[–] Gullible 1 points 1 week ago
