They need you to be sick, stupid, and scared.

A healthy, broadly educated population, which feels safe and secure, is incompatible with, and toxic to, conservative and authoritarian ideologies.

Jokes on them! I've been "disabled" my whole life.

Whatever work they get out of me will be about as productive as having an elephant try to do needlepoint.

[–] __nobodynowhere 6 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

... Yeah. You may want to look up what happened to disabled people in Nazi Germany

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 hours ago

Oh, I've been absolutely terrified ever since I became a member of the "parasite" class:

[–] [email protected] 10 points 15 hours ago

They want to track all of that ... but tracking police officers that abuse authority or get terminated for various unsavory reasons ... apparently too hard.

Someone called it "soft eugenics" and that makes the most sense to me. It's probably too much bad press and effort to do the old school active eugenics of preventing undesirable peoples from reproducing. So instead you remove health and safety services so "nature" will take care of them. While you simultaneously make it "easier" for the others to reproduce by handing out benefits and preventing birth control.

I'm sure that makes sense to the "utilitarian" crowd or whatever they are called, that believe that the goal of humanity's survival against whatever hypothetical future scenario they think of justifies any means today. Well, except to those who paid attention in biology and know that diversity is actually our best strategy to do just that.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I get why that term is used, but eugenics is eugenics. At least soft eugenics has the word in it, but it really isn't soft it's just normal eugenics. I can't wait for them to rebrand labor camps as soft prisons or whatever because technically the people there aren't prisoners so they can call it something else.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

rebrand labor camps as soft prisons

Not ironic enough. My money is on "freedom camps". After all, work makes you free, as the saying goes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 hours ago

Work makes you free...

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I agree, but also something can be said about there being different levels of intensity. Like prisons, there is gradation in the regime. You might need a different prison for hardened criminals constantly trying to break out and elderly criminals who long gave up on ever getting out and just watch tv all day. This being called soft eugenics doesn't make it less eugenics, it has the word in it and you could argue there is a difference between this and hard eugenics where you actually slaughter people with 'undesirable' traits. Not saying there is good eugenics and bad eugenics, but i guess i were a victim I rather go through soft eugenics than just be executed on sight.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

It's like first vs second degree murder. It soundsless intense to the jury, but if you're the victim... you're still dead.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

Yea. I totally understand that. And like I said I understand and appreciate that it at least has eugenics in the term, but it's very much still eugenics and the fact we have to delineate between hard and soft is just silly in my opinion. Eugenics is still eugenics regardless of if executed on site or just left to starve or die. It is technically not as "direct" I guess but it is still 100% eugenics. I wasn't explicitly criticizing the use of the term just that we live in a society where we now have that distinction and have to make it clear so a bunch of bad faith actors don't point to the fact there's no gun to peoples head and say therefore no eugenics.

How tf does preventing birth control prevent undesirables from reproducing?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 hours ago

Abortion performed using unsafe methods like coat hangers carries significant risks of permanent infertility and life-threatening complications.

Mechanisms of Infertility Risk

  1. Uterine Perforation: Sharp objects (e.g., coat hangers) can puncture the uterus, causing internal bleeding, organ damage, or sepsis[3][4]. Severe cases may require hysterectomy, permanently ending fertility[1][6].
  2. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): Unsafe procedures often introduce bacteria, leading to infections that spread to the fallopian tubes. Scarring from PID can block fertilization, causing infertility[5][7].
  3. Asherman’s Syndrome: Traumatic uterine damage may cause adhesions (scar tissue) that prevent embryo implantation. This is rare but linked to repeated uterine surgeries[1][5].
  4. Chronic Sepsis: Incomplete abortions leave tissue debris, creating a breeding ground for bacteria. Untreated sepsis can cause multi-organ failure or death[6][8].

Comparative Risks

Safe Abortion Unsafe/Coat Hanger Abortion
≤0.01% infection risk[5] High infection risk (e.g., sepsis, PID)[6][7]
0.001% uterine injury[5] Up to 60% bacteremia risk from perforation[6]
No fertility impact[1][5] Permanent infertility via PID/scarring[4][7]

Key Statistics

  • Unsafe abortions cause ~7 million hospitalizations/year globally, with infertility occurring in survivors of severe complications[2][6].
  • Retained tissue in incomplete abortions increases sepsis mortality risk by 50x[6].
  • 73% of septic abortion patients develop acute kidney failure, increasing infertility odds[6].

Conclusion

While safe, legal abortions (medical or surgical) pose minimal fertility risks[1][5], coat hanger methods drastically increase the likelihood of life-threatening infections and permanent reproductive harm. Timely medical care reduces these risks, but prevention through access to safe abortion services is critical[6][8].

Higher infant mortality, and higher maternal mortality to boot, all while chasing the $5k bait with poor insurance coverage at public hospitals. Meanwhile, the haves can afford better private care. Since that's where the money will be, they'll be pulling better doctors and nurses to it, thus avoiding becoming statistics.

Edit: it all boils back down to "survival of the fittest", where "fittest" has been redefined to mean "has the most money".

Forces everyone to reproduce. Lack of healthcare kills off the ones who can’t afford to survive. The “undesirables” still reproduce, they just die young.

Since wards are liabilities, there is no business case for retaining them in their present, ambulatory form. Therefore, the most profitable disposition for this dubious form of capital is to convert them into biodiesel, which can help power the Muni buses.

Okay, just kidding. This is the sort of naive Randian thinking which appeals instantly to a geek like me, but of course has nothing to do with real life. The trouble with the biodiesel solution is that no one would want to live in a city whose public transportation was fueled, even just partly, by the distilled remains of its late underclass.

However, it helps us describe the problem we are trying to solve. Our goal, in short, is a humane alternative to genocide. That is: the ideal solution achieves the same result as mass murder (the removal of undesirable elements from society), but without any of the moral stigma. Perfection cannot be achieved on both these counts, but we can get closer than most might think.

Holy shit, he sounds like he wants to redo Hitler's 'final solution' without people disliking him. At first he's like well genocide isn't very nice to people, so we need to find a better solution and then he goes on with the real problem being the fucking moral stigma what the actual fuck.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

Holy fucking shit how is this not on a full page ad in the NYT!

It does seem like they want to thin the herd.

I suspect a lot of Republicans saw that whites would be a minority by 2035 and when ape shit.

They are deporting anyone they can get their hands on and failing that are prepared to let a disease or two run rampant in certain races.

However, the second disease portion of my theory falls short due to the fact that MAGA itself is antivax. If bird flu was secretly raging through the US, these dumb fuckers would be pushing Ivermectin. Whatever eugenics plot they have cooked up will hit the republican political base right between the eyes.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I think they've convinced themselves that they can ship out the races they don't want, hamstring the health system and "cull the weak", while also destroying our educational system, leaving healthy folks for the factories and wars that are all they seem to think we need. Meanwhile abortion gets outlawed, providing a constant source of new producer/consumers.

All the folks who die along the way will just be the cost of doing business to them, like any other sort of production waste, and they will have convinced themselves that it will be some small number of generations before that waste starts to drop when only the "healthy" or perhaps "master" race remains. We're all just here to feed the oligarchs while they profit by enabling them.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

258m. Mark my words, that is the number they intend to eliminate. That's the issue when they make up stuff about saving 75% of Americans from fentanyl. They end up saying the quiet part out loud.

They know they can't just stick droves of people in concentration camps and execute them fast enough before the public catches wind of it.

Why do the hard work when disease, famine, and violent resistance can do it for you? Put the people in concentration camps, kickstart disease, "free" them, and let it run wild.

On the surface? It saves those who voted for Trump and some of their children. Easy sell.

But it would allow the survivors who held power to seize wealth that doesn't exist today. Monopolies are one thing - this is about returning to feudal society. Except instead of the king providing "protection" from invading forces, the king "protects" you from "invading forces." Work, so we can have supplies, or the neighboring corpo state will get you.

It would give these oligarchs the power to define their own genetic lines, their own personal "perfect" human, their independent ability to participate in any vice they wish.

And it will all seem "natural." Before we know it, the US is shattered, like the collapse of the Soviet Union, just slower and people don't really know about it until they have to go through checkpoints to cross state lines. How the fuck will they enforce that with our enormous land area? They didn't think that far ahead they never do. They probably think they can keep the US together before any of that happens.

Conservatives are crippling their own citizens, for what? Only reasonable explanation is following Putin's orders to weaken America

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Have you considered that it's a fascist death cult? Germany also crippled itself.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Right-extremism really has much of a cult. Too bad it has to be such an effort to not let the mind to be exploited.

My pet theory is, since human lived in groups of 100 - 150 people most of it's evolution, and vertical organization works there, that it is our instinct to organise us that way by default. But that doesn't scale well to states, thus the warring city states all of antiquity and medieval times.

Maybe we should build fallback mechanisms in our governments, to avoid the no-effort fallback (faschism) happening?
