For the longest time there was suddenly a new room on the other side of a concrete wall. I could not for the love of me figure out what my vacuum had managed to scan through the wall and even started to wonder if there had been a door there before. Then I realized, I had put a mirror there temporarily..

I thought this was going to turn into a psychological thriller.
I were close to losing it before I connected the size of the 'door' with the size of the mirror. I even knocked all over the wall and felt for signs of a hidden pathway
The true sci-fi (or horror) story starts when the Roomba crosses through and starts vacuuming the mirror room.
The House of Leaves!
I thought of "Prisoner Zero has escaped."
Wonder what it would do if you surrounded it with mirrors facing each other?
Existential crisis, room everywhere but nowhere to go
Does this guy live in The Backrooms or something? This layout is mental.
A lot of the gaps that look like odd spaces between randomly constructed rooms are probably things like furniture it can’t get under or closets that it doesn’t vacuum in.
Is that a fucking mansion?
5, 11, and 13 are likely all the same room, maybe a kitchen where it goes around the center long countertop.
Similarly 10 and 3. These things are not smart
Rich people exist. Unrelated: do you have a good barbecue recipe?
I've labeled the outside world as "outer space" and the basement stairs as "the abyss" for mine.
Father, the call of the void is too strong.
Btw, is there any alternative firmware for any robovacuum that has built-in privacy and where you can freely edit rooms? Support for doors too?
A modern day Allegory of the Cave
Tho I wonder if I can somehow get Home Assistant to let him ocassionally just go to the sliding glass door and just look outside for a while...
looks like a rpg world map
Later...
Look at you with your 8 rooms
That's alright, mine apparently sees into the ghost dimension and discovers rooms that aren't there.
This room has a swing set in it!
That's just the bedroom.
It really doesn't let you delete spaces it can go to? That seems like such a basic functionality it should have
I have a chinese robot vacuum (not a popular name but it was the cheapest one with a lidar), and it just uses Tuya (a Chinese smart home app used for many devices). In Tuya, you can fix the way rooms are "cut" and make no-go zones.
There's a problem though - if the vacuum gets stuck or lost and fails to understand where it is, it would just erase everything it knew about the apartment, so I got tired of setting stuff up again
Your roomba is now plotting world domination.
At this point there is nothing you can do, just hope the cat doesn't decide to aid them.
House of leaves ahh vacuum
Free him!
