I half remember something like that happening in Brazil. The right proposes something the left approves, there's no fight, they realize their mistake and start opposing their own idea.

I would be happy if they just brought back the light rail that got people around in American cities 100 years ago before the car manufacturers bought up all the rail lines and shut them down. Crossing the country by train would be great but we need to be able to get across town first.

It was General Motors. The toons in the movie were a non-political allegory for the black communities that were destroyed in real life.

Surely nothing bad will follow Nazis building trains.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago

well US could have been already working towards that if Elon did not derail all funds to his ridiculously failed hyperloop

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Trump supporters haven't figured out we don't just oppose them blindly, it's just almost all terrible ideas.

Throw a good idea out there like a high speed train, and we have no problem supporting it, because non-Maga are generally well adjusted humans capable of reasoning.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago

I would be amazed if they can actually build the train using only American parts like they claim.

[–] mindbleach 10 points 1 day ago

Spoiler warning: this is the same kind of grift. They're not going to build anything. The money-addicts just say whatever lets them make line go up.

Deadass im okay with naming it the trump train we can rename it later it would 100% get him to build it

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 day ago (12 children)

Don't worry it will be bankrupt in no time like all the other Trump stuff including Casinos.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

It's high speed rail. I'm guessing the general attitude in here is that we don't want this to fail.

Musk sabotaging this "centuries old technology" based project in 3...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Actually, Musk would embrace it and claim to invent the whole concept, say that no one has ever done it before, even while just rebranding a Siemens Mireo: https://tech.yahoo.com/transportation/articles/tesla-launches-worlds-first-electric-111535136.html

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

The only reason Trump wants to do this, is because Elon would get the contract. Just another way to funnel taxpayer money into the hands of the PayPal Mafia.

Effective mass transit to own the libs?

[–] [email protected] 104 points 2 days ago (4 children)

If trump managed to build effective high speed rail that goes coast to coast, hits more than just NYC and LA, and is affordable, I think history would probably end up forgiving him for a lot of shit.

Never gonna happen though.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 hours ago

Canadian here. No we fucking won't.

[–] [email protected] 83 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I wouldn't trust it for a second. They'd use it to move minorities into camps more efficiently

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Arbeit Macht Frei, baby.

That's German for "All aboard the Trump Train!"

Trump, a very stable genius knows high speed rail is a good idea. I am extremely against high speed rail as an antifa leftist.

There are no tracks in the US that are safe for high speed trains

None

[–] [email protected] 1 points 23 hours ago

Last I knew they were building or upgrading tracks in Texas-kansas for this.

[–] captain_aggravated 1 points 1 day ago

The Northeast Corridor already has high speed service.
