Hexbear lost the domain so they are now at chapo.chat. This means that any blocks or defederation lists will need to be updated.

If anyone wants to read how this happened and what they plan to do.

Chapo.chat has the same access problem that led to the current state of hexbear.net so it is to be considered temporary.

Are we still going to call them hexbear, just to pour salt in the wound, I hope?

No, let's not cause added confusion, it is better to talk clearly and be understood than to make a random unfunny joke that will just be annoying.

Well shit. I was going to tell you a pizza joke, but it was a bit too cheesy.

Damn, I didn't realized there was so much harassment of women on Lemmy.

Yes, it's bad

Lost, or "conveniently lost" as they now bypass every single instance's defederation for a few days?

Do we need a decentralized DNS too?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Would be nice but... if the domains will be free, history will repeat itself. for example, most of the .ga domains got taken over because a lot of people abused them.

DNS is decentralized

Anyone can run DNS and you can buy domains from many different sources

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

It's not really though. Sure, you can AXFR the root nameservers and run your own copy, but that's not really decentralizing its infrastructure. 10 of the 13 root servers are managed by US entities, including the US Army and DISA.

Can they move to the bottom of the ocean?
