Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Hell yeah, AOC. Get fucking loud.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I absolutely support her in this but we also need some Democrats to yell this in a format for the casual crowd. Most Americans probably do not really know what a plutocrat is. It hurts to dumb down but it worked for MAGA...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

There are differences between dumbing down so most people understand something and dumbing down in the way they do for MAGA etc. They aren't explaining things in simpler words. They just are dumb, unable to grasp things that might need dumbing down and shouting those things, often even trying to use smarter words but mostly failing completely at pronouncing, spelling and understanding those words. It's never bad to explain any word many don't understand or having an easier to understand version if possible.

Its important you organize us too, AOC. There are plenty of us just needing a rallying cry. We dont have the luxury of time.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 1 month ago (2 children)

She can't do it alone. People need to get off their arse and organize.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago

It's happening right now. A lot of the comments I've seen regarding these efforts have been overly critical and dismissive all while still complaining nothing is being done.

Age old scenario that's happened more than often in the past.

Autocrats, plutocrats and authoritarians are knocking at the door and breaking it down .... while the poor try to hold them back and the rich and wealthy let them in because they believe it will enrich them.

Yes, they are following the Fascism for racists 101 playbook. Welcome to fascism in America.

The guy practically has an all access pass to govt data. How is this not a gigantic conflict of interest?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

It's not a "conflict of interest". It's violating the basic human rights and civil liberties of every US citizen. Their right to privacy, along with all their data, is supposed to be protected, but has been sold directly to a criminally corrupt oligarch who will weaponize it against them... An oligarch who probably couldn't even pass a legitimate, independent psych eval, background check, or security clearance.

No-one in the history of the world has had this type of direct access into every government system. I'm not even sure the NSA, or any "intelligence agency" does, as direct access laterally across all these systems is a critical attack vector of national security that could basically cripple the economy, military, country, etc if it got into the wrong hands.

civil liberties

right to privacy

You're kidding, right? US citizens never had a right to privacy. They barely have any rights compared to other civilized countries

But Pluto's not even a real planet!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

It's like a dwarfcratacy at this point.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Spend some of that hard-earned money on guns and ammo to defend yourselves.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Credit cards are free money. Who's gonna collect when the collapse comes?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Even if the collapse doesn't happen, it's way harder for them to collect if you have a bunch of guns. Win/win situation.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Republicans, probably: hur dur al-mex-andria cortez thinks elons from pluto

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Talk is cheap. DO SOMETHING.

don't give a fuck about angry tweets

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Organization starts with getting a message out and gaining support. This is a start, and I’ll hope for the follow through since options are running short.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So she's getting the message out about elon...on a website owned by elon...

The DNC isnt getting my vote again until congress starts to resemble the South Korean parliament. I'd ~~pay good fucking money~~ donate to see AOC punch MTG straight in the face.

All of the major media and communication platforms are owned by the oligarchs that have already kissed the ring. So you either target a much smaller number of people, or you use less than ideal means to communicate with the masses.

I do think that people in her position need to start advocating for a movement away from traditional social media, and towards things like the fediverse. Who even knows if she is aware of the alternatives. They aren’t well known.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

So that means she's going to start a new party right?
