In linguistics, a nonce word—also called an occasionalism—is any word (lexeme), or any sequence of sounds or letters, created for a single occasion or utterance but not otherwise understood or recognized as a word in a given language.

Perhaps ironically, 'nonce' is not a nonce word.

Isn't that true for most words describing words? 'Long' isnt a long word, 'short' is longer. 'Palindrome' is not a palindrome, 'adjective' is a noun, 'name' isn't a name, 'swear' isn't a swear-word...

Is there a term for words that describe themselves? Kind of like onomatopoeia but different
