!egg_irl is for widely relatable memes about questioning one's gender or being an egg (a trans person in denial) as well as other eggy topics.

If you are looking for a place to discuss something specific to you or especially if you need help or are in crisis, we have communities and resources that can support you linked at the bottom of this sidebar.

General Rules:

  1. No bigotry.

  2. No spam, bots, or vote farming.

Rules on Content:

  1. No reposts.

  2. No personal-life posts, bingo cards, quizzes, selfies, "trans/not trans" lists, picrew, or non-memes.

  3. No visible names or usernames.

  4. Do not post or link to pornography.

Rules on Post Titles and Tags:

  1. Posts must be titled "egg_irl". An emoji or two is OK, but they have to be between "egg" and "irl".

  2. Posts that assume the viewer's gender and/or contain potentially triggering content must be spoilered and tagged at the beginning of the post title. Example content-warning tags that you can copy include the following:

    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Transmasc]
    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Transfem]
    • [CW: Assumes Viewer is Nonbinary]
    • [CW: Transphobia]
    • [CW: Violence]
    • [CW: Weapons/Firearms]
    • [CW: Disturbing Imagery]
  3. You may optionally include other tags, such as:

    • [Transmasc Meme]
    • [Transfem Meme]
    • [Nonbinary Meme]
    • [Gender-Nonspecific Meme]

Rules on Post Text:

  1. If possible, include an image description for accessibility.

  2. Add sources for art.

Rules on Comments

  1. If a post is tagged with a specific gender identity, keep the conversation centered on that identity.

  2. You must follow the Egg Prime Directive. You may not push or coerce people into identifying or not identifying a certain way. You must respect them as the gender they claim to identify as. In addition it is extremely in poor taste to make assumptions about other people's identities based on external factors, we understand it cannot be helped but it is best not to as it can affect the way you treat others in noticeable ways.

Recommendations:

We strongly encourage you to include your pronouns in your account bio so that others know how to refer to you without misgendering you. If you're questioning or unsure of your pronouns, that's totally coolβ€”just say so.

I commented this on another post already but I think it's relevant here too:

you can easily start diy anywhere in the world right now as long as you can get your hands on some crypto (the only good use for crypto). there are many resources on how to safely do DIY hrt, which sellers are safe and that pros and cons of different medications. the risks or diy are vastly overstated. depending on what doctor you would get when going the official route it could even be safer (I've heard many stories about horrible doctors, and experienced them myself too).

there's https://transfemscience.org/ for learning about the science behind HRT.

there's https://hrtcafe.net/ for finding places to buy medication

I personally would recommend injections from home brewers. that is, people who buy raw estrogen in bulk and sell it as vials to inject. there is a website that tests their products in actual laboratories and publishes their findings to make sure trans people don't inject dangerous stuff https://transharmreduction.org/hrt-testing

for further personal advice I would recommed the diyhrt reddit and discord, there are many amazing and knowledgeable people there that can give you more and better advice than I could: https://www.reddit.com/r/TransDIY/wiki/index/ https://discord.gg/QpaNPQsstw

you should educate yourself thoroughly about how HRT works, even and especially if you go the official route. you need to be knowledgeable and confident enough to recognize if a doctor is fucking you over and to do something against it. I'm not saying all doctors are evil, I'm saying you shouldn't blindly trust them. do your own research, and if what they do seems to go against that then demand an explanation. it's possible there's a good reason, or maybe they just have no clue how to treat trans people (like what I have experienced)

in the end it is your body and it is your responsibility to take care of it. yes there are risks to diy hrt, there are also risks to official HRT and there are also risks to no HRT. only you can decide what the right choice is for you. if you want more advice feel free to pm me on Lemmy or on discord. my discord username is 0laura

that is a zero, not an o

This meme is a bit cringey, but just the right amount to come full circle and be funny again. Shared it to my fellow trans friends and got a chuckle. :) Merry Christmas all.

Sent it to my trans kid. They just responded with "TRUE". :D

Yeah some people are upset about this meme and rightfully so, this meme embodies everything bad from r/egg_irl including thinly veiled transmedicalism. Since the comments do contain some useful info and so this post serves as an example it won't be removed but it will be locked.

Oh and just for clarification, if it wasn't Christmas I would permaban you for this post since you've done nothing here but be an ass, I do not endorse this behavior, and neither does this instance.

So I'm not trans because I'm not on HRT? Get blocked
