Dad's an idiot too, that's not why winter happens!
Calvin and Hobbes
Hello fellow Calvin and Hobbes fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.
Calvin and Hobbes is a daily American comic strip created by cartoonist Bill Watterson that was syndicated from November 18, 1985, to December 31, 1995. Commonly cited as "the last great newspaper comic",[2][3][4] Calvin and Hobbes has enjoyed broad and enduring popularity, influence, and academic and philosophical interest… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvin_and_Hobbes

Did we skip a comic? It seems like there should have been one where Calvin was concerned that the sun would go out.
Tomorrow - it's only a day away.
Yeah those guys are the worst. Damn glad that isn't us.
iirc the seasons are caused by ~~the wobble in earth's tilt. In summer your hemisphere of the earth is tilted "forward" so that it's directly facing toward the sun, and in winter that hemisphere is tilted away to point not directly at the sun.~~
~~That's why when one hemisphere has summer, the opposite hemisphere has winter. If seasons were caused by a change in the earth's orbit distance then the entire planet would experience the same season at the same time~~
I was not quite right
That's not really the "wobble in Earth's tilt", that's just the tilt itself. You have a much better understanding than Calvin's dad though.
Yup you're right, as you said, i was close but not quite right
And actually on the Northern hemisphere we are farther from the sun during summer than winter.
wobble or not is a matter of reference frame. In an Inertial frame you are of course right, but in relation to the suns surface I'd argue the earth could be said to wobble.
