It would take decades for these manufacturing of these products to be made here. If you're really in this for the benefits, it's for your children and grandchildren.
Weird how the people that are willing to make that sacrifice aren't willing to it for climate change.
These people have no idea how tariffs actually work
Now that the message as to who pays for the tariffs is spreading, the right wing propaganda machine is working to convince their poorly educated voters that this is medicine for a better future. The poorly educated, not wanting to see themselves as dupes gobble up the messaging.
It's crazy to me that outsourcing labor is such a common practice that these mega-corporations can simply shuffle factories around to keep their labor costs soul-crushingly low. Bringing the factories back to the US is a laughable suggestion for these companies at this point. Stuff should cost a lot more, and the people who work the factories should also receive more. I suspect the only people getting more money out of this will be Trump and the mega corporations.
Technically the money is going to the government's coffers so it's one way to compensate for lowering taxes... The problem being that it affects those with less money much more than those who are rich, contrary to taxes which are usually progressively higher as people make more money...

Funny how that works ಠ_ಠ
Trickle down works!
Ironically, they say this as they start to piss themselves as a generation
I don't think we will see much manufacturing returned to the US. We will see companies swap their outsource country to other SEA countries and still raise prices pretending manufacturing costs went way up.
I mean, this is the CEOs way of low key saying "Yes, pricesare gonna go up and we want you to know whose fault it is."
"With a little extra on the side for us" /s
I always go to O'Reilly's or Napa because AutoZone sucks as a company. They're also overpriced as it is, especially because they sell low tier garbage. Of course I almost always buy parts online anyway and save a lot of money doing that.
Do you think any of the others will be any different? Even if they already make stuff in the US, why wouldn't they capitalize on the price bumps and collect a free ten percent?
"We're going to build a tariff and China's going to pay for it, and it's going to be yuge!"
Let's say you're an industrialist that's thinking about building an American factory and your Excel sheet agrees that you can do so and massively undercut tariffed products.
That's what some think will happen.
But Mr. Industrialist isn't stupid! He knows that post-tariff prices are going to piss people off and fuck the economy. Think he's going to get caught holding the bag when the tariffs are repealed?!
And sell zero cars
Do you know what Autozone sells? Lol
